Boards Theatre - Late Friday night, All Day Saturday

"Now it's linens?! How can we be out of linens, Frank. I don't... I don't understand that." Drac rubbed his forehead as he paced the office floor and spoke into the phone. "It's a hotel. We have extra extra spare linens."

Well, that was actually because Drac was OCD, but he believed it was Status: Hotel, Normal.

He listened a moment, nodding. "Yes. Yes, I see. The Bog monster family reunion does usually run us out of clean..."

...

"Oh." More nodding. "...Wait, what? Why would a poltergeist convention ruin the rest of the... A costume ball?!" Drac's face went slack and he facepalmed. "Of course. No, you couldn't have known they would all dress up as ghosts. No, we can't very well use them! They have holes in them! No. I'll call and order more linens. No, you're not fired. I'm just..."

FREAKING OUT!!! WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO HIS HOTEL?!?

"concerned about things. No, Frank; other things. Right. I will call you later with more information."

And so, there was an emotionally distraught vampire in the theatre hiding his twitchyness about the mess his poor poor hotel was becoming in his absence by checking inventory and OCD-ing puttering about.

Oh, and despite all the troubles his mun he was having, he finally had signs up that auditions were open:

Casting Call for Sour Grapes Of Death

One year ago, Robert Killingsworth bought the farm. Six months later, he was dead, leaving his widow Elizabeth to tend to their fledgling vineyard and winery on the outskirts of California’s wine country.

With mounting debts and no idea how to run a business, Elizabeth is desperate to sell the farm and recoup her losses. The fierce drought and shaky economy, however, have left Killingsworth Farm on the market for far too long.

One autumn day, seven people passed through the gates of Killingsworth Farm to see Elizabeth. One of them, Detective Yu discovers, is the last person Elizabeth ever sees.

AUDITIONS OPEN

Come in and audition!

[OCD minimal because I am brain dead and Drac doesn't know what he's doing. AU and AU!NPC auditioners welcome!]

It would be a pretty sad day indeed when Sparks couldn't put down his cover letters to performing arts schools in favour of going to an actual audition, wouldn't it? The free doughnuts and coffee were really sort of like icing on the cake, though he was taking his coffee black until after his turn to audition came up. He wouldn't want to gum up his throat with coffee cream or anything like that.

"Hey, dude." Kenzi was still upset about yesterday's turn of events. On the other hand: easy audition. There were worse things. Coffeeeeee.

"Kenzi, hi," Sparks greeted, giving her a little nod over his coffee. "Nice hair."

What? It was. And his own was, you know, the same way he totally always wore it. Down, and loosely styled in that 'couldn't be bothered' scruffy kind of look.

It kinda suited him. Kenzi had always thought it took more work than it was worth, but then, not everyone could have as much hair as she did.

"Thanks. So what are hoping for on roles this time?" She studied him a minute, and then asked, for no reason she could explain, "Have you ever thought of wearing some eyeliner?"

"What, beyond stage makeup?" Sparks blinked, and then laughed and shook his head a little. "Not really. Why? Do you think it would be an improvement?"

He really couldn't picture it, himself.

"As for roles... I'm not sure. I'm not exactly familiar with the play. It's a murder mystery, though, isn't it? I'd be happy with anything that gives me a bit of a challenge, I think. All the better for audition material down the road, when I finally get my college applications in, you know?"

Re: Arrive!

"I think it would bring out your eyes," Kenzi mused. "True. You've still got a year to go, so. Plenty of time. Do you have a favorite yet?"

And now she was off her perch and stretching, because that reminded her of her *own* audition in two weeks, and that made her nervous, and that meant moving. And practicing positions and some arm movements.

"I just need something to fill in the time before audition season starts up on the mainland."

Auditioning! Sparks had always been too busy with classes in order to make his way here to do it before, but this semester he was taking a gym class and... what had been a cooking class until this week, and now he had no idea what it was, so he was going to make time for it.

He stepped up on the stage, smiling faintly. He hadn't been on a stage for community theatre since he was still back in Toronto.

"Hey. I'm Sparks Kirby. Well, technically it's Sparkle, but Sparks looks better on a program."

Technically Sparks looked better anywhere.

"Mostly just theatre classes and community theatre stuff back home," Sparks admitted, shrugging his shoulders a little. "I want to go to school for acting after I graduate here next year and maybe make a living doing this kind of thing someday."

There was a moment's pause.

"And yeah, that really is my name."

He kind of got that raised eyebrow thing a lot. He was pretty resigned to it.

"Either talent, or grand delusions," Sparks laughed. "I'll take any role you see fit to put me in, but I have to admit, I'm kind of interested in Nightshade's character. A pushy real-estate developer with an agenda just seems like he'd be fun to play."

He figured he was probably a little too scrawny to really play up Enrique well, which was unfortunate. That character looked like fun, too.

"Would you like a monologue, or should I read from the script? I do have a monologue prepared."

It was mostly curiosity that had Jonothon heading to the Boards today to see what was going on. He wasn't looking to audition for anything himself, of course. Emoting was significantly more difficult when you were bereft of a jaw. Or eyes. Or skull...

You know. A head.

//Beats the alternative,// Jono replied with a shrug of his shoulders. //People have this funny way of screaming and running the other direction - or trying to put me out using curtains - when I don't. Surprised it took you this long to notice, mind.//

Since he'd had it for years, now.

"Hey, Count." Kenzi still perched on one of the chairs near him when she approached. But her voice had a slightly stronger Russian accent today, and her hair looked more naturally blond than wig. "There's no problem if I audition as well as work backstage, right?"

Something about this gave her a headache, but... no big.

Kenzi sighed. Because people's memories sucked. And/or the ongoing weird was touching everyone. "No, I just couldn't do both with dance classes before. Now that we're on break, I have a little more time on my hands before audition season starts." She jittered a bit, then gripped the sides of the seatback she was sitting on to stop it.
