The Causeway: Thursday Afternoon

A group of Jamies were huddled by the causeway.

"Did we get everything?"

Preparing for a ritual that might be the key to saving the future of Fandom island.

"Mandrake root. Fur from a teal deer. Nightshade. Dried stickbugs. Is that everything?"

Then again this is Jamie Madrox we're talking about.

"Almost everything. We couldn't get a live chicken."

"What did we get as a replacement?"

"The ten piece chicken meal from Il Pollo."

The Lannisters don't have anything to worry about.

Princess Pinkie Pie was on her usual afternoon flight about town when she spotted the nice little group activity happening down by the Causeway. As it was her duty to promote all things Friendship, she came in for a (slightly awkward, she wasn't born with these wings, you know!) landing in a cloud of magic glitter, then came trotting over to have a look.

"Hihihi," she greeted, with at least one "hi" for every duplicate. "Hihi. Hi! Hiya! Hi! Whatcha doin'?"

Jamie's first reaction to seeing a pink flying talking unicorn was that he was shocked. Which meant he did a quick intake of breath due to that shock.

Which meant he inhaled part of that cloud of glitter.

"Hi!" Jamie said after he coughed a few times. "We're doing a spell to help protect the future of Fandom Island-"

Jamie was interrupted by his duplicates who briefly held up a fist of solidarity and chanted "Campfire!"

"-of Fandom Island. I'm Jamie Madrox, by the way. Mutant and disciple of Dr. Strange. May I ask who you are?"

Denna found herself bored, not that she enjoyed teaching the brats on the version of the island she'd come from, but it had at least filled the hours, and there was nothing to occupy herself with here, especially since she hadn't seen Jim (luckily for him) again.

Which was how she came to be watching the Jamies. Maybe they'd blow themselves up and provide some entertainment.

Well at least Denna didn't create a cloud of glitter when she arrived.

"Hi!" Jamie said cheerfully. "I'm Jamie Madrox. Time stranded student from the future. We're just working on a spell to save the future."

"Are you now?" Denna managed to contain her scepticism. Barely. "You don't look like a wizard."

Wizards tended to go for the whole robe look back in D'Hara.

"Well I don't look good in a pointy hat and I always trip over my robe," Jamie said with a shrug. "And who might you be?"

"It's nice to meet you!" Pinkie peered at the Jamies with one eye wide open and the other squinched nearly shut. All humans pretty much looked alike, but these guys were super-duper identical.

It was downright uncanny.

"I'm Princess Pinkamena Diane Pie of Equestria," she said. "Disciple oooooffffff. . . ." What did "disciple" mean, again? "Princess Celestia?" Eh, what would a human know about it, anyway? "What's a mutant? I thought you looked like a human, but then, when I first got here, I thought humans were all hairless bears, so."

"I see." She wasn't sure what the hat business was about, but she could but the tripping over robes, just something about him. "You may call me Mistress Denna."

"Oh, I'm like human/hairless bear but in the next evolutionary step up so I have powers. Mine is to duplicate myself through kinetic energy," Jamie explained. "Now I have to ask... I've never met a talking unicorn-winged-pony before. Is everyone like that in Equestria?"

"Oh, you're a magic human!" Pinkie understood magic things. "Neat! I'm an alicorn -- that's why I have a horn and wings. It means I'm a princess, but I wasn't born and alicorn, I was just an earth pony. Equestria has all kinds of ponies, like alicorns and earth ponies and unicorns and pegasuseseses and zebras and buffalos and dragons and draconequuseseses and crystal ponies and, well, pretty much everything! Except humans. You people are weird."

Just in case anyone wants to catch Jamie before the spell. Threads above can stay where they are. Sorry! Been a long time and forgot about OOC threads. OOPS!

After ending a debate regarding the quality of reagents, the duplicates all form a circle around Jamie. Then all of them sat down into the lotus position and began to chant...

"BY THE LIGHT OF THE ALL SEEING EYE OF AGAMOTTO!
BY THE MIGHTY WINDS OF WATOOMB!
BY THE CRIMSON BANDS OF CYTTORAK!
BY THE SHIELD OF THE SERAPHIM!
WE BESEECH THE POWERS THAT BE TO BLOCK THE ENTRANCE OF ALL LANNISTERS FROM NOW UNTIL ETERNITY!!
ADELA! ADELA KAZEEM!!!"

And then there was a mighty BOOM! And a puff of smoke!!!

And the spell failed. Probably because Jamie was an idiot to try and combine those spells. Also probably because he used the combo meal from Il Pollo instead of a real chicken.

As a result a third of the Jamies were turned into chihuahuas. Another third couldn't stop belching. And the other third had excessive flatulence.

Yep. Complete failure.

Yep. Forgot the OOC. But the world did not end. Woot.

"You know I wish I could argue against that," Jamie said thoughtfully. "But I really can't. We are very very weird at times. Worse at others. So what do you do other than fly and disperse glitter?

"Can I just call you Deena?" Jamie said looking... well a little uncomfortable about saying the word "Mistress."

Denna could 'fix' that discomfort, but for now she'd settle for him getting her name right. "Denna."

"I am one of the Guardians of Friendship!" Pinkie said proudly. "Also, I teach baking at the school."

"Are you sure it's not Deena?" Jamie asked politely.

Jamie looked down at Pinkie's hooves and wondered exactly how she managed to bake with them. "Well I can see how friendship and baking goes together," he said thoughtfully. "Because giving baked goods is always a good way to make friends."

Denna loosened her agiel in its holster. Even if he didn't recognise the weapon, he should at least appreciate the threat. "Very sure."

It was a mystery of the ages.

"Prezactly!" Pinkie cheered, giving off a little excited *puff* of glitter from her horn. "Plus, in a class setting, it encourages teamwork, and friendship and teamwork go hoof-in-hoof!"

MEEP!

"Nice to meet you Denna!" Jamie exclaimed, his voice cracking as well. "I... I think I'm going to do my spell (http://fandomtownies.livejournal.com/7186938.html?thread=267417082#t267417082) now.

Denna clapped. Slowly.

She was impressed, really she was.

"I like the way you think, Pinkie!" Jamie said with a grin. "I only wish my duplicates would appreciate the value of teamwork."

Mostly because the duplicates were debating the quality of the dried stickbugs versus the fresh ones instead of actually working to get the spell set up.

"Well, then, you should teach them!" They were his duplicates, after all. Only he could be held responsible for their antics. "It must be super-neat to be able to duplicate yourself like that! Then you wouldn't ever have to worry about whether or not two or more of your friends would have different plans for you to have fun together!"
