The Park [Thursday evening after dark]

"//Oh, no, I'm sure you can ride it!//" Eric yelled at one of the Vikings from his spot on the bench where he was carefully examining his fingernails. "//It will bring your family much honor. They will write ballads of Ingvar, the man who rides dinosaurs.//"

There was a slurping sound as the raptor ate another Viking.

"Dumb shit," Eric said, shaking his head, then stood up to face the gang of Ingvar's angry Viking friends.

"Who turns their back on a dinosaur that just ate your friend?" Eric demanded, picking one up and throwing him, javelin-like, to the waiting reptile as he ripped off the others' heads.

"Fuck, I love living here."

"You're having too much fun with this," said Sia from where she'd been watching him on a short break from death and destruction.

And of course she was kidding, because she was having too much fun with this.

Eric shrugged. "They started it by showing up here. Therefore, they deserve to be eaten."

"And the head-ripping?" Which she admitted was impressive, if gory for her tastes.

"Just something I like to do," Eric said with a grin.

"It's a bit messy." Seriously, that was Sia's only problem with it.

"Vampire," Eric said. "Messy kind of goes with it."

[notconflicted]

"Not my personal style, then," Sia said. "Chopping off heads is less physically demanding over time, I'd think."

"I need to keep in shape," Eric said. "No one will come near a fat vampire. I'm Eric--harpy behind you."

Sia's danger sense was already telling her something was up, so it took about two seconds for her to have her lightsaber out and lit and for the harpy to get split in two.

"Sia."

"Nice lightsaber," he said, grinning. "Girl I knew wouldn't let me have one."

"It's a very exclusive group that gets to carry them," Sia said. Even more exclusive since they killed the Jedi!

"Yeah, but I can rip people's heads off!" Eric countered.

"Then you don't even need one," Sia pointed out.

"But it's so cool," Eric whined.

[notconflicted]

Sia just shrugged. "Who was the girl you knew?"

"Jaina Solo," Eric said.

[notconflicted]

There was a tiny bit of an eyeroll there, because while Sia respected her great-grandmother's position, they'd definitely be on different sides now. "Ah. Well she was more by the book anyway."

"Depends on what book, I suppose," Eric said, chuckling.

"We probably have different perspectives on that," Sia said diplomatically.

"Oh?" Eric asked, then frowned. "Has that statue always been there?"

[notconflicted]

Sia sighed. "If it's an angel, no. And if it touches you you'll be transported to another part of the island."

Not that she knew from experience, really.

"Well that's really creepy," Eric declared.

[notconflicted]

"And now it's closer," Sia said, frowning. So she just lifted her hand and let loose a blast of Force lightning at the angel to see what that would do.

She hated these things.

And while Eric didn't breathe or have a heartbeat, his eyes did blink.

Dammit.

"Where does it take you again?"

"Elsewhere," she said, ignoring any drying of her eyes. "It's more annoying than anything. Rage-inducing when it happens more than once."

"I'll keep that in mind," Eric said, watching the statue warily.

"That was not kind," Loki pointed out, mostly back to normal as he perched in a tree. Because he wasn't stupid.

"And that's...bad?" Eric checked.

Loki gave it due consideration. "Not if we consider natural selection being at work."

"I like thinking of myself as natural selection," Eric admitted. "Whittling out the stupid and slow..."

Loki sniffed at that, but eventually nodded. "See if you can get them to attack again."

"The Vikings?" Eric smiled. "You know they are easy to rile."

"Yes, but now I have my camera ready," Loki pointed out. "//Do it for the Thunderer!//"

Eric burst out laughing. "//I'd do it anyway. It's funny.//"
