The Unexplored Wooded Area, Late Thursday Afternoon
Booker was stuck. Stuck on this island, stuck in this time, stuck without his little girl. He'd been opening rifts since Tuesday trying to get out of here, but it wasn't letting him. Now, the winds had picked up, swiveling around Fandom, dragging more destruction in their wake.
He had to wrestle against them as he pushed forth into the unexplored wooded area. This is where he'd started. Maybe giving it a good tearing would get things back on the road.
He had to find her.
He spotted the glimmer of a tear and reached for it, shoving his hands - one five fingers, the other four - into the breach. He pulled. It began to part.
Maybe this time.

Cade | The snap-hiss of a lightsaber filled the wooden area. "Ah-ah-ah," Cade said, shaking his head. "No tearing apart the universe. Seriously uncool." |
Bo | Show-off. Bo just had a sword and a crossbow, neither of which made nifty noises unless in active use, so she had to settle for her mouth. "What he said. I don't know where you think you're headed, buddy, but some of us still have to live here." |
Buffy | "Yeah and I just redecorated my place so I really don't need some alternate universe weirdos tearing the place up." She had brought an ax. It was a classy weapon if you asked her. |
Jack | "Can we just kill him, or do we have to quip at him first?" Jack snarled. A gun was strapped to her hip, but the blue light dancing around her was the bigger concern: She was her own best weapon. |
Red | That got an agreeing snarl from Red. Then she remembered how to use her words. "We're here to stop you if you won't stop yourself." Give it two more minutes, and there'd be a giant wolf ready to eat him. |
Goose | Goose really had nothing to say, so he just stayed silent and gripped his blasters. He just wanted to fight something. |
Booker | The rift snapped shut with an audible flutter. Booker didn't turn, but his hand sparked a strange red and slid down to the firearm at his hip. "I'm not stopping anything," he said. "I suggest you folks turn around and go back home before someone gets hurt." That someone likely being them, if it came to that. |
Bo | "This is our home," Bo answered, not missing the hand movement or the evidence of super powers. Beyond the obvious seems to be tearing apart the multiverse ones, that is. "And from what we can tell, you've been hurting people for months." |
Buffy | "Hurting them, making them think they're going crazy," Buffy said. "Not to mention all of the shirts ruined because of the nose bleeds." |
Jack | "So this is the one time we ask nicely," Jack chimed in, since it looked like they weren't going to get to the fighting bit just yet. "Fix and get out of here before we throw you out." |
Booker | Actually, Booker had been short on patience for a couple of... how long had it been... a year? More years? More months? A little blood slid down his nose. "Fine, have it your way!" he snarled, twisting around and lobbing a huge fireball at the group. It'd explode on impact. He didn't care. |
Red | Red dodged to the left, snarling-- and in a moment, a wolf the size of a pony was there instead, creeping forward, with a low growl vibrating in its throat. Talking time was done, clearly. |
Goose | Goose managed to throw himself out of the way before the fireball hit, pulled himself back up and managed to restrain himself from firing his blaster at that moment, no matter how tempted he was. |
Booker | Too bad. Because Booker had no problem getting out his rifle. He'd sped towards cover from a tree - it limited his sight, but it didn't limit his capability to fire off a shotgun blast. |
Bo | Bo, neither a shapeshifter nor fireball-proof, had ducked and rolled, which also left her out of shotgun range, but actually gave her a better chance to come up with her crossbow in hand. She loosed an arrow toward the stranger -- or more accurately toward his tree, but she was hoping to catch that gun-hand, if nothing else. |
Buffy | Buffy also moved out of shotgun range, ax at the ready. She was keeping tabs on her surroundings trying to figure out a way to get closer without getting her face shot off. |
Jack | Jack had managed to block the fireball and dodge the bullet, and she cackled as she unleashed a biotic blast toward Booker. This was too much fun. |
Booker | On the bright side, Booker wasn't going to lose his gun hand yet as the biotics knocked him right off his feet - and well away from the tree. He scrambled onto his feet as fast as he could and lobbed another fireball their way to distract them. Had to find cover again. Something a little more blue... blue thingie-proof. |
Red | Red was already chasing him, faster than any human, blocking one direction, and aiming a bite at his heels. |
Goose | Now Goose was rapidly firing his blasters at him, hoping one of his blasts would manage to hit their target. |
Booker | Booker scrambled backwards, trying to move out of Goose's shooting range while kicking down at the wolf's head. The red hue around his hand shimmered and vanished, the skin of his hand cracking apart oddly in its wake. "I'm not gonna let you-- stop me! You hear?!" |
Bo | "Well, there's always the option of stopping yourself," Bo shouted back at him, nocking another quarrel. "We just want you to stand down and quit ripping up our island." Among other places, given how people's entire histories had changed. |
Buffy | "Think it over, buddy," Buffy called. "You're grossly outnumbered here and this island has put up with way worse than you." She shrugged. "But if you want to do it the hard way that's fine too. Some of us prefer it." |
Jack | "I prefer it," Jack confirmed, and tried to use her biotics to pick Booker up and slam him to the ground. "But I'm not sure how you aren't dead yet." |
Booker | One of Booker's ribs snapped with an audible crack. He grunted, lashing out blindly, shooting out a shockwave via the new vigor in his hand. It was unfocused, though - an attempted distraction as he crawled back, unable to get up. There had to be another rift. There had to be. "I'm not gonna stand down-- I'm gonna find her-- she's gonna take me..." Shit. He needed to save his strength. There had to be a rift here somewhere. |
Red | Red rolled away, and was a woman again, crawling closer to Booker. "Find who? Take you... what?" She was panting for breath, still looking feral. "You might be ripping her apart too, whoever she is!" |
Cade | Cade nodded, looking a little frustrated. "Vagueness helps no one, man." |
Booker | "I'm not," Booker snarled, with the stubbornness of a man who thought he was sure. He was out of salts and his everything hurt; kicking at Red's head would have to do. |
Bo | "Okay no, enough of that." Bo had moved close enough that it only took one quick stride to reach him where he'd fallen. She gave her own kick -- at his shotgun, to get it out of the way -- then crouched over the man, not so gently yanking his face up to meet hers. "Hi, I'm Bo." Since she was trying to do the civilized thing and take him down before somebody shot him down, an introduction seemed in order before she pressed her lips to his mouth and started sucking the life out of him. Hopefully only most of the life. |
Booker | Booker's hand twitched with unreleased power, or whatever scrap of it there was left. His eyes went big. He didn't manage to get anywhere near struggling, though, as most of his chi went pouring out of his mouth and into Bo's. He went limp. |
Jack | "I guess we aren't killing him the rest of the way, huh?" It might be disturbing how disappointed Jack sounded. She unclenched her fists as the blue light around her dissipated. |
Red | Red stood up, her eyes going back to a human's, taking a deep breath. "We can do it later. But only if we have to." |
