Eric had put up a sign on the door of the Devil's Nest:

Well, he was trying?

The Devil's Nest was open for all of your unhealthy coping with trauma needs! You'd have to wait for the sun to go down to deal with the owner, but Tiny was a master in the arts of shutting up and pouring drinks.

Raven knew she wasn't responsible for all the things she'd done as her altered self. But she also knew she was utterly capable of it, and the reality of her fears come to life was overwhelming. She left ~~Balmia~~ Glacia, needing to distance herself and knowing Karla and Warren would likely need time to themselves.

Fandom seemed the natural choice of a destination. So did the Devil's Nest. She was over 21 now, and the human thing to do in these kind of situations was to get very drunk, wasn't it? At least until she could forget.

Who isn't serving drinks (because please), but isn't hiding in the back corner judging you all for once.

He's at the bar judging you instead. So big of him.

"So," Jack said, grimacing as he wandered over to Eric, "that's over. Special on drinks tomorrow for anyone with a horror story?"

Eric thought about it. "What the hell," he agreed with a nod. "But get the story too."

"Obviously," Jack said, nodding back. "Stories are currency, and we're a business -- not a charity."

"Exactly," Eric said with a flash of teeth. "I'm so glad we understand each other."

"Oh, always," Jack said airily, unphased by the teeth. "Did you hear I ended up on your side for a bit while the island was extra-annoying?"

The thirst for blood had been a bit more than annoying, but damned if he was admitting that to a vampire.

"I did," Eric said. "Vast improvement, wasn't it?"

"I'll keep the sun," Jack told him. "Though it gave me an excuse to make Derek miserable while he couldn't do much about it, so that part wasn't all bad."

"He came in here all happy one night. It was creepy as fuck," Eric replied.

"I saw that too," Jack said, and his guard slipped. "That was when he thought his family was still alive."

He still thought that one was pretty cruel.

Eric winced slightly. "Well that'll suck to get back over."

"I don't think he ever got over it to start with," Jack said quietly. "It was funnier when he was a literal wolf. Then I could just tease him about shedding."

Eric snorted. "Not the shedding."

"I think I called him a fuzzie-wuzzums, too," Jack remembered. "... and now I fear I'm giving you ideas."

"Put that in the memo section of his next paycheck," Eric declared immediately.

"That might make me a traitor," Jack said. "But sure. What the hell."

The important part of the paycheck wasn't the memo line, after all.

Most banks wouldn't cash something address to Fuzzie-Wuzzums.

Which Eric would be calling Derek from now until the end of time.

He smiled. "He'll love it."

That was not at all true.

"He'll hate it, but I think he'll like having something to hate," Jack said. "What about you? Did you make it through all right?"

"I got to fight dinosaurs!"

Eric was positively gleeful about that.

"Somehow that didn't happen to me," Jack said, jealous. "Though there was one throwdown with a harpie."

"They were pretty badass, too," Eric said. "I also got zapped around the island by those creepy statues."

"Were they cousins of the ones that were nabbing kids in the dungeon last year?" Jack asked. "I managed to stay clear both times."

"Those are the ones," Eric confirmed. "You didn't miss anything unless you're secretly into almost being dropped off cliffs."

"Hello, Mr. Northman," Raven said with a smile, tipsy after a few sweet drinks. "I hope you have been well."

And not doing horrible things as some other version of himself.

Nah, he'd been perfectly happy being horrible as himself!

"There were dinosaurs," he said, grinning. "You?"

"I would rather not think about it," Raven said. "Hence, this." She lifted her glass. It was something called Loopy Vodka if she'd heard Tiny correctly. She didn't care as long as it was sweet.

Eric was pragmatic enough to enjoy the spike in sales that occurred after trauma on the island.

"Seems like a good choice for forgetting."

"I told Tiny I wished something sweet and strong," Raven giggled. "What would you recommend?"

"Sookie," Eric said, waggling his eyebrows.

Raven burst out laughing. "Yes, she is definitely sweet and strong, but she is married now, and I think Bobby might object," she said.

She set her drink down and leaned against the bar. "You are strong, but you are not sweet, are you?"

"Not even a little sweet," Eric replied. "Ever."

"But you are very handsome," Raven pointed out.

"This is true," Eric said, nodding. "You may continue to tell me about that."

Raven giggled again and reached for her drink. "I was very frightened of you at first, because you are a vampire," she said. "But Sookie trusted you, so I tried not to be afraid. But even when I was, I thought you very charismatic and handsome."

"Smart people should be afraid of vampires," Eric said. "This island isn't that smart, on the whole. And it has entirely too many werewolves."

"I have never feared werewolves as I do vampires," Raven said. "And I still think you are very dangerous, but I also find you...fascinating."

Was she flirting with a vampire? Why, yes she was.

What an amazingly healthy choice!

Eric raised an eyebrow and shifted a little closer. "I am very fascinating, and you are bright to have noticed."

Raven really wasn't interested in healthy at the moment. Healthy would mean dealing with everything that had happened, and who wanted to do that?

"You know I am not human, do you not?" she said. "Have you ever tasted a demon's blood? Do they taste different?"

"They do," Eric said with a smile. "Depends on the kind of demon, of course. Some can be very sweet."

"Do you think I would taste sweet?" Raven said, tilting her head slightly.

"Would you like to find out?"

"I would, very much," Eric said with another, slightly toothier smile. "But not here. It's tacky to do that in my bar."

"Of course," Raven said with a smile of her own. "Shall we go to your place, then?"

One of them, anyway. Eric wasn't a huge fan of people knowing where he slept.

"Of course," he said, standing up.

Raven finished the rest of her drink and slipped off the bar stool.

"Lead the way," she said. "I am all yours."

Would Eric feel the least bit bad taking advantage of her this way?

Nope.

"Yes, you are," he agreed.

Eric needed to get out more.
