Devil's Nest, Monday, 03/31
Tiny had a nice tall Bloody Mary -- heavy on the actual blood -- waiting for Jack when he got to work today. He was a thoughtful bartender that way. The scent didn't sicken a werewolf the way it would have a human, but it still made Jack's stomach do a tiny flip.
He knew the island had done far worse things to other people, and he knew he'd been through much worse than a few days as a vampire. This was just -- nothing. Another chance to play the hero, another time to get away all right. Another chance to worry about how much worse it could have all been.
Still, his shoulders sagged as he set up a handwritten sign outside the club.

"Does that sign go for those of us who aren't of age yet, under the circumstances?"
She didn't care much one way or the other if it did, and the way she was slurring her words slightly suggested that she'd already gotten started anyway.
Re: Talk to Jack Priest [3/31]
He liked Eponine and saw no reason she couldn't have a drink. But he wasn't willing to outright cross one of Eric's few rules.
He smiled after that, as if to take the sting out of the denial. "How are you doing, anyhow?"
Re: Talk to Jack Priest [3/31]
Which she probably ought to at some point soon, and check in on Kenzi.
"I'm well," she went on, lying like it was second nature (because it was). "S'pose you made it through to the end of that little trip the other day, and didn't go wandering off through any doors?"
Re: Talk to Jack Priest [3/31]
Strange, sad world.
"When did you wander off? I lost track."
Re: Talk to Jack Priest [3/31]
That was when what Jack said about the reason for the entire mess seemed to sink in, and she let out a derisive laugh. "That's what all this nonsense was about? That's a bad job, dragging all of us into it whether we liked it or not."
It was thoroughly hypocritical of her to scoff, considering that whole plot to lure Marius to the barricade. Then again, maybe she had that in mind.
Re: Talk to Jack Priest [3/31]
He smiled at her laugh. "It was. There was something about him having debts to pay, and ... honestly, I cared more about convincing him not to do it than about questioning his reasons too deeply."
Re: Talk to Jack Priest [3/31]
"And that's all that matters in the end, I suppose, isn't it? No more of things appearing out of nowhere, trying to bite our heads off or cut us into bits or anything like that, and us back to normal? I'm glad you lot are persuasive."
She seemed a bit pensive, though, and almost sympathetic. "Those must have been some awfully heavy debts, that's for certain, for him to go to all that trouble."

If you didn't know any better, you might not realize how much Jack cared.

"Coffee." He'd been deprived.
