Conversational Lithuanian, Tuesday evening

Hannibal nodded at everybody this week. He had at least brought an umbrella, but his coat was dusted in water droplets that didn't seem to want to go away, and the hems of his trousers were damp. Nevertheless, he was determined to be in a calm mood.

"Labas vakaras. I realize we've been a bit disruptive over the past few weeks, but hopefully that will at least give us things to discuss." He smiled slightly. "In fact, I'm wondering if this shouldn't be more of a therapy session than a language lesson, but I will leave that to all of you. Some vocabulary for the evening." He waved at the board:

Jono was sitting near the back of the room today, still just the slightest bit overwhelmed by the fallout from the last month. He'd like to see anybody else fare better after several weeks without a head. Everything was still a little loud, still a little bright, but if he sat at the back with his eyes closed and tried to focus, he found that he could almost form a picture of the room with his mind's eye, the way his counterpart had.

... Almost. He hadn't ever had a need to hone his psionic senses that much.

He made a note of the new vocabulary for the week, and then grudgingly opened his eyes again in order to write it down.

Lithuanian would be preferable, but if you need to talk more than you need to practice another language, he won't judge you too harshly.

He hesitated before bunching up at the shoulders and shaking his head.

These were all things that were difficult to express in a language he was still just starting to learn.

Eleanor considered it, and flipped through her notebook looking for possible words.

"Aš susidoroju," she said. "Tačiau man bloga."

I am coping, but I feel sick.

"I don't like knowing how easily I might have been her."

Hannibal had rather liked the other Eleanor he'd met, but he supposed she might be an acquired taste.

"Tačiau nesate jos - but you are not her. Would it help to think of how easily she might have been you instead?"

Hannibal quirked a smile at her and turned to write on the board: To get drunk: prisigerti. "Probably another good verb to know, as I suspect many people are coping that way to some extent."

Priestly was going to be spending the class over here communing with the glöaut;gg, if no one minded. He figured he already won a few points for not just hiding out in his apartment with Stevesie and Dean's vast collection of booze, this week.

Of course, considering what he'd gotten up to post-Sheba, he needed all the points he could get. . . .

All right, Eleanor trusted psychiatrists about as much as she trusted the zombie piranhas, but he might be able to help her with something. And so, as much as she was convinced it was a bad idea, she was lingering after class.

Oooh. Which reminded her.

"I ... owe you an apology," she said. "For last week. I wasn't ... myself, but ..."

That hardly made it much better.

Hannibal smiled. "Neither was I, apparently. So we'll consider your other self to have apologized to mine, and wipe the slate clean." It had been rather refreshing, really. "There was no harm done, after all."
