Conversational Lithuanian, Tuesday evening

Hannibal smiled and greeted everybody. "While I realize this isn't as relevant to everybody here, I thought those of you who are teaching classes, or who may be in the future, might find it useful. And it can serve as a good source of discussion for the evening, with the end of classes coming soon. So, today's vocabulary."

He wrote on the board:

School: mokykla, universitetas
Lesson: pamoka
Class: klasė
To take a test: atlikti testą
Student: studentas
Teacher: dėstytojas, mokytojas
To teach: mokyti
To study: studijuoti
To learn: išmokti

"Please ask about any specific subjects you may be interested in," he added. "As we hardly seem to be teaching the usual courses here, I wasn't certain which to include."

Hannibal chuckled. "Aš išmokau iš gyvenimo mokykloje," he supplied. "The grades - pažymiai - there are handled somewhat differently. No scheduled finalas."

The food was especially interesting today -- nothing sinister, just a matter of a busy day that had led to a too-small lunch. Jack heaped his plate with mushroom salad and veal liver and filled a cup with honey almond milk.
