The kitchen staff looked rather disappointed by Eliot's lack of awe at the giant magical freezer. They were a bit more impressed by his critique of the cook's knife technique.

"You're making mirepoix, not holding off the Yakuza."

This quickly developed into Eliot giving a mini-seminar on the best kitchen utensils to use against various invading forces.

It was super cute how Eliot thought "zombie viking bears" was hyperbole.

Dean spent about two minutes of this weird little lecture before he got bored. Because he just wanted a burger, okay? Not to listen to whatever new guy Priestly had been sob storied into hiring.

"Dude, seriously?"

Eliot looked over, still holding a knife in one hand, and a serving platter in the other. "They asked."

"Yeah, because they're all weird." Dean, that was rude. "No offense guys, but you live here of all places."

Eliot looked back at the kitchen staff, then set down the platter. "Okay. And you are. . . ?"

"Dean. You get brownie points for not thinking I'm Priestly."

Eliot shook his head. "You two have completely different body language. Plus, you didn't mention Klingons."

Well, with that hair, Eliot shouldn't have been surprised by any comments about them.

"Yeah," Dean replied like he wasn't actually a nerd for Star Trek or anything. "Priestly's like that."

"So what're you, like, brothers or something?"

Dean snorted at that, going to grab something to eat. Because he couldn't be bothered upstairs. "He wishes."

Priestly wished no such thing.

Eliot would object to Dean just grabbing food, but honestly, he'd been known to hop behind the bar at McRory's from time to time.

Also, he didn't really care that much. This wasn't really his kitchen.

"Let me guess, you're magically identical."

The talking pony probably did it.

"Well, I wouldn't call myself magical," Dean replied. "A gift, sure."

Eliot snorted. "Sure thing, kid."

Look, he was probably a good seven years older than Dean. Or just about anyone else on this island, come to think of it. . . . "Kid" was entirely appropriate.

"Kid?" Dean snorted, staking up one hell of a sandwich. "Kid."

"That's what I said." Eliot eyed the sandwich, then slid a container of fresh aioli in Dean's direction. "You know it's not actually height of the sandwich that matters, right?"

"Yeah, but it just looks so pretty," Dean shot back.

"If all your food does is look good, you're not doing it right."

"You sure have a lot of opinions about strangers," Dean pointed out, taking a bite out of a slice of meat.

"You're not a stranger," Eliot said with a smirk. "You're Dean."

"And you're the new guy." New guy. Deal with it.

"And none of you ever let me forget it." Eliot shook his head. "Eliot Spencer. So you don't have to rename me next time someone moves in."

"You just come across all shiny and new," Dean replied. "It's adorable."

Now he was just being a jerk.

"It's the hair. Just radiates adorability."

"Now you're just pushin' it."

"You're the one who called me adorable."

"And you're pushing it," Dean replied. What did he think he was doing with season 8 Sam hair there?

Season 8 Sam wished he had Eliot's hair.

"Relax, kid. I'm sure I'll never out do your very pretty cartoonishly large sandwich, there."

Dean rolled his eyes at the continued use of 'kid'. "Yeah, have fun with that, new guy."

"So what do you kids do for fun around here, these days?" Eliot asked.

Yeah, that 'kid' thing was not going away.

Dean chewed his sandwich and stared at him with a deeply unimpressed look. "Yeah, I'm gonna just go back upstairs. Have fun going all Hell's Kitchen down here."

"You'll be glad of 'em next time you get attacked by. . . ." Eliot frowned. "'Zombie viking bears'."

Oh just wait, Eliot. Just wait.

Dean snorted at that. "I think it was supposed to be dinosaurs last time, but nice try, man."

"Dinosaurs. Sure. Why not."

"Have fun with it next time, new guy," Dean said, taking his plate with him to go watch some more Doctor Sexy.

"Hey." Eliot scowled. "You gonna pay for that sandwich?!"

"Take it out of my paycheck, buddy!"

"He works here?" Eliot confirmed with the cook. "Jesus, that Priestly kid'll hire any asshole."
