Mike's birthday last Saturday had been pretty good. It'd given him a great reason to flee the island after the graduation ceremony. He'd even managed to find someone he'd hit it off with – enough that he hadn't even gotten back until Monday.

Of course, he'd been all about work since then, but still! It had been a good birthday weekend. He was still happy about that.

Stiles decided to stop by the bar after work. And, look, he stopped by J,GOB for a pastry or two as well. Just because he was nice like that.

"Hi."

Mike nodded in greeting. "Stiles! Hey, man. What brings you by?"

[robinonadderall]

"I am bringing you gifts," he said, setting the J,GOB bag down. "One donut for your birthday. And the other as an apology for anything you might have been traumatized by the past week."

"Can I take the gifts and skip talking about anything that might have traumatized me?"

At least he looked amused when he said that. That was a good thing.

"Please, yes," he said. "We're to never speak of it."

Mike nodded. "Good." That meant he could safely reach for a donut. "So, aside from the unmentionable, how's it feel to be graduated?"

Stiles shrugged. "The same, really. I probably won't feel any different until college starts up. It'll be weird going to a school that makes me do work."

"What, you don't think college has finals where you just have to listen to a pony sing at you?"

He had no clue what Pinkie's finals were like. That was just his favorite assumption.

"I wish," he said. "I'm majoring in criminology, my finals will probably involve solving murders."

Mike made a face, probably showing right there why he'd never be a good fit for criminology.

Just like he hadn't been a good fit for college to begin with.

"Well... You have fun with that."

[robinonadderall]

"Dead bodies aren't your thing?" he asked.

[newroutines]

"No, I'd say I prefer warm, alive bodies." He was a former stripper. It was a very lively sort of business. "Like by a lot. No contest."

"Your loss," Stiles joked. "I'm trying to help people before they turn into dead bodies, hopefully."

"That seems like it might be for the best," Mike agreed. "And I wish you the best of luck with that, as long as you don't drag dead bodies into my house and claim they're homework."

[robinonadderall]

"An hour and a half would be a bit long to drag a dead body," he said. "So I don't think you have to worry."
