The Magic Box, Monday

Aw, they were like itty tiny baby Jewels!

Yes, Surreal had fallen prey to the Sparklies that had arrived at the store, just like everyone else. She didn't have the slightest idea *how* they could be used for magic, so she was amusing herself by using her Green to try and poke at them, to see if any of them actually resonated for the Blood, while she read up on crystals and magic.

So far, she was rather confused on how it would work, but she was making a list of the poisonous rocks and minerals, to see what she could whip up... and planning some experiments. Time to see if a 'ruby' really did pale in the presence of poison.

Tersa would be so proud.

The Magic Box was open, and experimenting with Science on Magic.

"Are you playing with pretty rocks?" It wasn't like Cara couldn't leave Surreal alone for several hours at a stretch, she just didn't want to, but distracting annoying watching her while she worked was one of the things she'd never admit to missing.

Plus if she didn't bring her food, Surreal might swoon from hunger, or something. Yes, that.

Which was why it was vitally important Cara kept her in delicious baked goods. Made by other people.

"Merchandise which looks like pretty rocks," Cara pointed out, only metaphorically poking things until she found out if they were magic or not.

Cara picked up a piece of agate and held it up to examine the colour running through it. "I guess some of these would make semi-decent shot for a sling," she said. "In a pinch."

"Horrible death or just wishing for it?" she asked, eyeing the juice.
