After receving a karking depressing message from Atton in his voicemail, Cade braved the bugs in the dorms, broke into Atton's room and stole all of the booze he'd left behind...then added a couple of his own bottles.

He was aiming to be very drunk by noon, and was feeling pretty good about his life choices there.

"Have you heard from Atton?"

"Yeah," Cade said, holding out a bottle of whiskey. "Figured it seemed like a good idea to get drunk."

She shook her head at it, not much of a fan of that idea. "What did he tell you?"

"That he probably wasn't coming back and I should break into his room and take his booze," Cade said. "So I did."

"Not that he was probably coming back for that anyway." Though it was impressive that he'd thought of it after all these years. "This probably doesn't mean you should drink it all at once, either."

There was a long pause as Cade held up one of the empty bottles and stared at it. "Kind of too late for that, pateesa. Sure you don't need something? Drink? Something to break? A hug we'll never talk about?"

"I'd prefer an explanation for what happened to him and possibly a portal depending on said explanation," she admitted. Stop being all practical, Sia.

"That's way too reasonable," Cade declared. "Atton spent too much time with Jedi--he got vague and unhelpful at the worst karking time."

"In all fairness it didn't seem like he had much time to go into detail," she acknowledged.

"True," Cade said, finishing off another bottle and letting it clink behind the counter. (He made such healthy choices.) "Kind of impressive he called us, really."

"I certainly wouldn't have expected it," Sia said. Especially not all the apologies she got.

"What'd he say to you?" Cade asked, opening up a new bottle.

"Some personal things." The apologies were something she wanted to keep as her own, really. "That he wouldn't be able to continue trying to work things out."

Cade gave her a sympathetic--if blurry--look. "Sorry."

"I am, too," she said, and that went for him as much as for herself. "Do you need anything?"

"A friend who doesn't leave?" Cade laughed a little bitterly--booze was making him honest. "I'll be fine, pateesa. Always am."

She thought that was debatable, but.

Sia nodded anyway. "I should go. If you do need anything, don't hesitate to call, all right?"

Which was kind of a big thing for her, given that she still expected him to turn her in and all.

Cade nodded. "Especially if I hear anything definite."

"Yes. And I'll do the same," she promised.

"It's Atton. Maybe he's just being overdramatic."

The tone in Cade's voice said he didn't think so.

"It's possible." Probably not. She took a couple steps back, nodding towards the bottle. "Save some for later, all right?"
