The Magic Box, Wednesday

Elsa was actually a little impressed as she stepped into the Magic Box today to see that not only was the place still decorated for Hallowe'en, but one of the skeletons had been dressed up for the occasion with a bright silk cloak and a little staff glued into his bony hand.

Elsa figured that if this was going to be a running theme around here, clearly the thing to do would be to weave a crown out of various herbs and grasses that they had in stock, to decorate one of the styrofoam jack o'lanterns near the back.

So she was occupying herself with that, humming softly with the flicker of her candles nearby.

At least the lights were on today.

Barry opened the door and wandered into the store, poking at one or two of the halloween decorations. He gave Elsa a small grin.

"I have no fucking reason to be here other than to say, hi," he announced.

Elsa blinked up from her wreath-weaving, giving Barry a briefly puzzled look, and then breaking into a smile as she remembered their conversation from last week.

Aww, Barry.

"Hi," she replied, warmly. "And now that you've said it, are you planning on sticking around for any length of time?"

"Well I don't know," Barry said looking at the wreath she was working on. "I'd had to take you away from your work. Unless of course it's to invite you to watch the premiere of..."

Wait for it.

"Sharknado 2. The Second One."

"They made a second one?"

Elsa did sound a little stunned, yes. She was pretty certain every shark in the sea had been dropped down on those people's heads in the first movie, after all. What was there left to do from there?

And yet...

"I'm actually intrigued," she admitted, blinking. "The first was horrifying, and yet I'm still intrigued."

Like watching a train wreck, really.

"Really?" Barry asked looking shocked. "Because I was pretty sure after the first one you would be fucking done with it. I was just planning on watching it in one of the common rooms tonight. Are you really interested?"

"Less interested in the movie than the company, I think," Elsa admitted, still smiling, "but I think I could probably stomach another hour and a half of sharks falling from the sky."

All the more reason to never go into the water. Ever.

Barry looked pretty pleased at the comment. "Well I'm glad to hear I'm worth another hour and a half of your time. Grisly as it may be," he replied cheerfully. "You'll also be glad to know that I've done absolutely no genetic transformations on any teachers or students today so no one should be coming by to fucking yell at me."

And if Fandom was full of irony, no one would show up in the common room.

On a night that wasn't actually a date? Elsa would probably chalk it up to Barry not having made anyone angry, but the irony wouldn't be lost upon her, either.

She might have to tease him for it, if that happened.

"That is a relief," she agreed. "And not just because the idea of someone like Cheryl and Pam running around as dinosaurs was horrifying the first time around, either."

"Well at least they won't have to fucking change the course topic to the seven habits of successful dinosaurs," Barry joked. "So I'll see you up there around nine?"

"I'll be there," Elsa agreed, weaving some sort of grass into her wreath and smiling. "Nine. Make sure there's plenty of popcorn."

Either for throwing at the screen or for throwing at Barry, depending on how this evening went.

Why would anyone throw popcorn at Barry? He's such a nice and considerate guy!

"Popcorn, chocolate, chips and salsa," Barry said waving and heading for the door. "I'll have it waiting."
