The Park, Monday Evening

With the summer session being over for now, Loki was left with even more free time than usual. Which apparently meant he was filling it with things like trying to film a gremlin for a vine.

Yeah.

"I could promise to let you loose on a Skywalker if you come down," Loki said, frowning as the gremlin was hiding up a tree.

For some reason, they were less than trusting of his motivations.

"Good," Jessica said, dropping from another tree. She was in her costume, but she pulled down her mask as she landed. "One of the people I was looking for."

She glanced up where he was looking. "What's up there?"

"A gremlin," Loki replied with a sigh. "It is not cooperating, Spider-individual of some variety. I am uncertain if it would be rude to call you Spider-girl."

Or Jessica. Because. C'mon.

"Woman. Spider-Woman," Jessica said. "FYI, if that thing tries dropping down on us, it's getting stuck in that tree for hours or until a bird grabs it. I don't have time for that stuff."

"YOU HEAR THAT, GREMLIN!"

Loki pouted as the gremlin scurried further into the tree, not wanting to test the weirdo in the spandex. "Spider-Woman," he corrected. "What is the matter? If it involves HYDRA, I must regretfully decline any knowledge of their machinations in your world."

"Big as a skyscraper, purple armor, eating the essential energies of my Earth," Jessica said. "Does that ring a bell? It crossed into my dimension from one more like yours than mine, with a heroic Reed Richards."

"Ah, Galactus," Loki replied. "The world eater. Though his armor is really more fuschia than purple. Has he a herald in your world?"

"No, it just showed up, apparently lost and starving," Jessica said. "When you say 'world eater,' Tony Stark was right? It's actually eating my world?"

Loki winced at that. "Ah, yes. He hungers and thus consumes the universe one planet at a time. He is... not defeated, merely held back one more time. Even the All-Father cannot stop him."

Though it did come to a stand still for a moment!

"Great. Even Odin can't stop him and the closest thing we have to Odin is a depowered Thor in some advanced Iron armor," Jessica sighed. "Do you know about anything that might hold him back? I'm willing to take anything up to and including a magic word. Besides 'please.'"

"Reed Richards?" NOT HELPING. "Or if this one had a herald that you could woo to your side?"

"Our Richards is a genocidal maniac, so he won't be any help," Jessica sighed wrongly. "Iron Man is going to the world Galactus came from to see if we can get any help from their Richards, though"

"And hope the solution isn't to shove the world-eater off onto another dimension."

"That's out of the question," Jessica said. "I don't know how exactly it became our problem, but we're not just going to pass it off to some other poor saps. We need to stop him."

Loki gave her a sympathetic pat on the arm. "Try not to die in your valiant attempt at fighting a force of nature from the dawn of this version of the universe."

"You're so reassuring, Loki," Jessica said. "That's what I've always liked about you."

"You could take Ikol with you. He would be of use in the more archaic knowledge," he replied kindly.

"... Your bird?" Jessica asked. "Does he speak? To mortals?"

"When it suits him."

The bird in question was staring down the cowering gremlin. Because he was a great big, feathery bag of dicks.

"You know what? I've got some time-space issues on my side," Jessica said. "From the way time's been moving recently, it should still be Sunday in my world for at least another Fandom day, and I have at least one other person I want to hit up for info anyway..."

"If I can borrow Ikol for a couple hours while I abuse the interdimensional internet here for even more research, I'll owe you."

Loki looked up, waiting for Ikol to make his way down to perching on his shoulder. "Don't allow him to have nachos," he said sternly.

"Thank you, Loki," Jessica said. "Any other rules I should know?"

Loki seemed to think that over as Ikol shuffled over to perch on Jessica's shoulder now. "Ah, yes. Do not allow him access to eldritch powers beyond the comprehension of mortal man."

"Shouldn't be a problem. We don't have much in the way of magic on my world, not since Doctor Strange's house exploded and a bunch of demons were killed in the aftermath," Jessica decided.

Loki looked sympathetic. "I am certain they deserved it."

"The big one tried to use the Human Torch as a battery. That didn't go over well with his sister," Jessica said with a shrug. "And another tried to make the damn Hulk scared."

"Oh, they were a bit dim, weren't they?"

"Their plans were definitely flawed," Jessica said. "Anyway, point is, Ikol should be kept safely away from any eldritch influences or power sources."

"Good. He might get a little genocidal with them."

"I don't want to ask more questions about your bird, do I?" Jessica sighed.

"It is for the best that you do not."

"Consider the rest of the questions left unasked," Jessica said.
