Kenzi was outta jail - thank everything ~~and everyone who offered to post bail, you're awesome~~, and was behind the bar again.

Tino was not saying what he'd done that weekend. That made two of them.

back in an hour to pick up anything.

Yeah, Nick was looking, if not apologetic, then at least pretty amused as he sidled up to take a seat at the bar.

"Thanks for the pizza," he said, shooting Kenzi a grin. "You send those along to everyone you try to con?"

Or just the ones who caught her at it?

Just those, pretty much, yup.

"You're welcome. Jeez, I'm -- sorry? Embarrassed? Dismayed? All of the above?" Kenzi grimaced. "What kind of drink do you want?"

"Rum and Coke," Nikolai chuckled. "Better make it a double. It's been one of those weekends where you wake up with a goat and then get your bartender arrested for credit fraud. I might have accidentally given a hotel guest a concussion while I was at it, so I'm really battin' a thousand, today."

There was a pause, and then he flicked a credit card onto the counter from his wallet.

"Drop this?"

"Hmmmmmmm?" Kenzi was making the rum'n'coke, and then looked at the card with wide eyes. Desdemona Jones had already cancelled that card, and hadn't she flicked it off the balcony of the hotel like a teeny plastic frisbee?

"Noooooo, never ever seen that before, nope. Shiny, though. Where'd you find it?"

"Stuck in a crack in the gutter between here and the hotel," Nick replied, giving her a smug grin. "Thought you might like it back."

Because his other option was to take it down to the station, like a good, law-abiding citizen.

"I could keep it if you'd rather, Ms. Jones."

"It's nothing to do with me," Kenzi sang out, pushing his drink over to him. "And I understand that those cards get cancelled awful quick and all." She grinned. "This one's on me, though."

Nick chuckled as he tucked the card away into his wallet. There were several other cards in there where that came from. And a few stray pieces of ID in there that didn't belong to him, either.

He was a little less sneaky about taking them than Kenzi had likely been, though.

"I appreciate it," he replied, not above accepting bribes in the form of booze, tonight. "Always nice to get a free drink after one of those weird weekends and the subsequent morning after confusion, wouldn't you agree? You get out of jail alright?"

"Yeeeah. I sent out a general distress text, got enough together to get out of jail... well, not free. But at least clear." Kenzi grimaced and pouted about that. "I so would've been better at that if I'd remembered how to be.... hey, what the heck was up with that goat?"

"Ah-- Antelope. Small antelope," Nick replied. "She was an animal transformation. One of the students at the school, it turns out. But hell if I knew who to pass her on to, and then over the weekend I didn't even know she was a person, so..."

Suddenly, goat. Er. Klipspringer.

"That was a unique experience on its own, and all the more reason for me to enjoy this drink."

"She back to normal now, then?" She grinned, pouring herself a Diet Coke. "Antelope. Well, that explains the attitude. And at least I didn't set anyone on fire or get knifed this weekend."

"Yeah, she's back to being student-shaped," Nikolai agreed. "Ran off this morning. It's kind of like setting a bird free, but with more naked freaking out and awkward stuttering."

Lots more.

"I gotta say, I really do appreciate you not lighting me on fire this time around. Not thrilled about you trying to con me, though. I'm supposed to be the guy who takes people to task over that."

With the power vested in him by Mary, who had hired him as a hotel desk worker. Or something.

"Poor kid. That happened to me a couple times. She shoudl be glad she wasn't hanging off a wall somewhere."

Kenzi grinned. "Nothing personal, dude. Like you pointed out, there's not a lot of hotels around here. And if you take away the wisdom of my experience, you get someone who had to fight the urge to walk off with that card reader. My klepto tendencies are apparently stronger than any pyro tendencies."

"Oh, we'd be having words if you went and lit me on fire a second time," Nick shared. "Really, really angry words. You were in your right mind over the weekend, after all. You were just lacking memories."

He would have had to take the fire personally.

"And I didn't! I just failed to elude stormtroopers-- ugh." Kenzi made a face. "So mad at myself. I *always* have an exit strategy these days. But see! Even without memories, not malicious, not destructive. Just-- mischievous." She pointed at him while she slurped her drink. "You did pretty well at your job in spite of no memory."

"I've been working with Hollywood stars for years now," Nick replied with a laugh and a shake of his head. "I'm pretty good at going with the flow in the face of a fucking insane morning after, this wasn't that far from that."

The hero complex helped, too.

"Troopers would've been fucking useless if I wasn't there telling them what to do, though. It's a wonder they don't knock themselves out just walking through doors."

"Those losers had trouble working a coffee machine on their own. Even Ralph." Kenzi made a face. "And then Tamsin the Detective got all grumpy at me, like hello, I had a worse weekend than she did!"

...arguably true, although Tamsin would probably argue that the Morning After cancelled that out.

"But, at least Dr. Lecter's lawyer was good. And if Mary and the hotel don't make a really huge deal out of something I wouldn't have done in my right mind...?"

"Yeah, I doubt they will," Nick replied. "In the end, it was one of those weekends. The room you got wasn't in use anyway, though you jumpin' on the beds might've caused some damage."

Those things weren't made for grown women jumping up and down on them, Kenzi.

"Just do me a favor, if you're gonna try to pull credit fraud in the future? Leave me out of it."

He liked you, Kenzi, and didn't want to have to get all superhero on your ass.

She was wee! Maybe 98 pounds soaking wet! C'mon!

"Assuredly, totally, why would I even plan on something like that?"

...when doing it on the fly and far away from Nick was likely to be so much more successful?

Insert lewd comment conceding that hotel beds were generally made to handle a lot of bouncing anyway...

"Hey, don't ask me why," Nick countered. "I don't commit fraud. I just bust it."

And drug deals. And muggings. And whatever else people were stupid enough to try to pull right under his nose.

"Are you even getting paid for that? or is it like my klepto thing, you can't help yourself?"

She worries about you Nick. A little. 'Cause you're not dead yet, after all.

"Ha, I wish I was getting paid," Nick replied, rolling his eyes toward the ceiling from behind his mirrored shades. "Unfortunately, that's a volunteer gig. Though there are always a few upstanding citizens who are willing to reward me for a job well done."

Translation: If you were mugging someone, it just stood to reason that your own wallet was fair game to be picked through by the guy zip-tying you to a lamppost.

"Reminds me, gotta throw Bo at you." Althought, after she heard where Bo woke up on the Radio, that might have to be put on hold for a while. "Gratitude for not turning in that card and all."

"Just, what, pick her up and fling her at me, see if I catch her okay?"

Such a straightforward way of introducing people!

"... I've heard of worse ways to go about it, granted."
