Derek got in a little ha! earlier than normal to the bar to get some things set up for the party apparently planned there.

Which basically meant a few tables and chairs were moved.

He wasn't Pinkie, okay? Be very glad for that. No one needed that much glitter in The Devil's Nest.

Bod dropped off three wrapped gifts because he'd decided to spoil Kate for her twenty first birthday.

He'd be the one carrying them back to Kansas City anyway.

Jack dropped off a small box wrapped in bright paper that contained something he thought was completely crucial for any brand-new adult.

Of course Emma brought gifts! Of course, most of it was not to her personal tastes, but she adored Kate enough to indulge her friend's sense of whimsey.

What with it being her birthday and all. Never let it be said that Emma couldn't be giving when it suited her.

The gift bag was bright pink, with purple glittery paper obscuring and cushioning the items inside.

Granted, this was more traditional for a sixteeth birthday, but ask Eric if he cared. (Hint: Nope.)

The box was small (because keys were small, even if cars weren't), and included a quickly scrawled note from Pam that said the insurance had already been paid for and a gift card for a year's worth of gas.

Eric's note was to the point: Because I can. It's waiting at the airport. Happy birthday.

What was the use of making a thousand years worth of interest if you couldn't spoil people occasionally?

Bod arrived a little before Kate so he could set a few things up. And also because he was irritatingly early for everything. Couldn't help it.

The cake, though, was worth getting there early. He thought he'd done a good job of selecting one.

Maybe next birthday he'd try to bake something similar (it wouldn't turn out that well).

Emma grabbed herself a spot in the lounge, where she could do her best Eric Northman impression and drink her martinis in peace away from the hustle and bustle of the bar.

...fine. It was really so Tiny had to come all the way over here to refill her drinks. It was totally more mature than sitting at the bar and tossing popcorn at his head.
