Mystery Sign Theater 3000, Wednesday, All Day

On Monday, Samara Morgan had walked out of a well into the ocean, and out of the ocean into a haunted house. She'd expected, from the way the ghosts with STAFF badges talked, to find herself back in her well on Tuesday night, with the cover firmly shut just the way that woman who was not your dirty-word mommy had left it.

Not so much. So much not so much that not only was she still here, she was still here with no nasty grown-up NO YOU MAY NOT rules wrapped all around her like choking wet well-weeds. That feeling had vanished as soon as those STAFF badges did.

No well, no rules, and no waiting for someone who still had a VHS player to stumble over her story. Instead, there was a whole empty movie theatre here, like it had just been waiting for her all these years.

NOW SHOWING

DOUBLE FEATURE, FREE ADMISSION, FREE POPCORN:

Untitled

and

Don't Watch This

Rated G. For gross.

She wasn't taking any chances. They were getting everything. Even the DVD extras. Not that she knew what DVD extras were.

[OOC: THING ONE - Ghosties who stayed, you may consider this your official Free To Be You signal to start doing your thing all over Fandom if you haven't already! You're also welcome to use the lobby or movie threads to bump into each other and hatch evil plots, if you need a place for that; Samara's film won't affect your characters aside from presumably boring the crap out of them since it's been playing at the con for two days.]

OOC: THING TWO: For the living, watching either/both of the films means you want your character to be tormented by Samara for the next 3 days, as described here. I'll send a mass e-mail for brainstorming where/when you'd like her to appear and what you're welcome to mod, etc. to those who ping in to watch. If you just want to wander in and then change your mind, there's a lobby thread where the only dangerous thing will be that the popcorn is slightly moist.]

Free movie and popcorn? Pinkie Pie was so there!

She tried "Halloooooo!"ing a couple times to find whomever was working here -- someone had to be working here, right? -- then gave a little pony shrug at the lack of answer and picked up one of the popcorn buckets, dumping the entire contents into her mouth at once, expanding her cheeks like a deranged chipmunk. She picked up another bucket, balanced it precariously on her hindquarters, and -- with her mouth full -- called out "Thanks, whoever!" before heading for the theater doors for the double feature.

Isabelle needed a distraction after all the drama she'd had in her personal life in the last little while. So free admission and free popcorn with movies? It sounded perfect!

Annnd then she actually made it inside. And things... just didn't feel right to her. She couldn't pinpoint what it was, but it made her turn on her heels and walk back out.

She didn't need a distraction that badly, anyway.

She'd already been noticed, though. Someone had taken an interest, and someone watched her walk away. Such a strong, steady walk.

Hmm.

Gwen really just wanted to get out of the dorms for a while, and the theater in a small town was always a safe bet, right? So she took a seat to watch, and... was this Swedish, or something? Did it show at Sundance, maybe?

Yeah, once she'd figured that this was not what she came here to see, Gwen'd just see herself out.

Constance sat down behind Gwen. She had been very pleased when the convention ended, but she hadn't returned to Jericho, CA. Time to see what else she could do.

Lowering the temperature to much chillier temps, for a start.

Ugh, and was the air conditioning broken? Gwen pulled on her jacket.

"I've seen how this ends," Constance said, leaning forward to whisper. "Want me to tell you?"

Gwen startled with an audible "GAH" before turning her head just slightly to say, "Uh, no thanks. I'm going in unspoiled."

That got enough of a grin out of Constance for her to back away. "If you're sure." And a whisper before she left her to Samara's tender mercies, "It's killer."

Kira hadn't paid a lot of attention to the sign outside the theater - it was cold outside, it was... well, less cold inside, and apparently the movies were free?

It probably wouldn't be too long before Kira realized that she was getting what she paid for, but for the moment, she was willing to give this a shot.

Ever so conveniently, Raven had decided to pay a visit to the island again. Possibly for a booty call. Regardless, as she passed the theater, she felt a shiver of something...wrong. Concerned, she decided to take a peek and if anyone was inside.

She regretted stepping foot in the theater when she saw what was playing. She didn't understand what it was supposed to be or what it might have meant, but it was awful and disturbing and she was just going to leave and try to forget about it, thank you very much.
