Fandom Town, Saturday Morning (Finale Post Part 1!)

It would be nice if the team of volunteers who'd taken off for Ingvar were heading unopposed, but nice didn't describe most of the spectres who'd infested the island this week. It definitely didn't apply to the ones who'd been hiding in the Town Hall, spying on their plans. Samara, for instance, had no intention of letting them shut down her source of freedom and toss her back into her cold, dark pit, and she'd broadcast that fact to any ghost on the island who'd listen. They might all be out for themselves, but an army of angry spirits each fighting to protect their own interests -- whether to preserve their well of dark power or to escape in the stolen bodies of the living -- was still an army of angry spirits.

[OOC: The first post, for all your ghost-fighting, possessed-people-herding, sheltering on Holy Ground needs. A post for the Strike Team's adventure, the Kitchen Sink spell, and aftermath will be coming along later!]

Those who had bodies and wanted to flee the island with them would be able to sense, by now, the swelling power that might actually let them leave, if they tried crossing the Causeway just one. more. time. Those who wished to harry Fandom's strike team would be headed for the nearby docks - at least that's what Samara was doing. She rather thought she could persuade the sea to whip up a wave or two that would make sure that boat never made it across to Ingvar.

As for the living? If they wanted to prevent their friends from leaving, or their other friends from drowning, well. They'd better move fast.

Just because the living might be smart enough to herd or drag their possessed compatriots toward the shelter of holy ground, it didn't mean the dead were going to let that go down without a fight. The church might be safe, but the grounds were still open for spirits -- those who'd never taken a body as well as those who'd been kicked out of the ones that they'd stolen -- to do their best to block the way there.

The safety zone! Once you're inside, you're safe from both possession and attack. Possessing ghosts will be knocked out at the threshold.

Questions, problems, pie?

See, Atton had been really relieved hearing about the holy ground thing, because it meant he could drag a certain possessed pain in his ass out of the spare bedroom and with him down the street.

Where apparently all hell was going down. But hey, what else was new? Force senses at least made it easier to avoid the worst of it, because he'd feel vaguely guilty if he got the kid's body damaged.

"Keep moving," he told the ghost, as they approached the church. Gave it a shove as motivation.

"I'm trying," Boo protested, "boo-t it's difficult to maneuver with my eyes covered!"

No, he wasn't going to uncover his face. There were people everywhere!

'I just had to be possessed by the stupidest ghost on the island, didn't I?'

"You don't have to maneuver," Atton shot back. "You just have to keep walking and not annoy me so much that I forget I don't want to mangle Sparkle's body and walk you into a wall."

'Hey!'

"... I can do that, too," Boo mumbled, keeping his eyes firmly covered and tripping along. It was easier that way, to ignore all of the chaos around them. "Where are we going?"

"Shut up," Atton told him. Helpfully.

Then he shoved him at the church entrance.

Dammers wasn't trying to leave ~~yet~~. Leaving in the middle of a crisis would be irresponsible! He was, however, on the look out for other spirits and possessed folks trying to make a break for it, so he could herd them towards the church like the responsible and heroic federal agent he was.

As for him? Well, he was just a pony. Surely the townspeople could agree that a federal agent was a greater resource than a talking pony. He was sure he'd be just fine to stick around, especially after he'd proved so helpful and heroic.

Boo's eyes were covered, so he didn't step toward the entrance of the chapel so much as he fell face-first into it with a yelp. And then a pop sound. And then a high-pitched, annoyed noise as he realized that he was not actually in the church. Or in Sparkle.

"Ow," Sparkle muttered, because, ha, like he'd been ready to catch himself just a half-second after being de-possessed. "I actually kind of needed those knees."

Also, thank you, Atton.

Jennet headed for the docks. She was less concerned with leaving the island than she was about causing grief and terror.

And today, she was armed. Why strike out with just nails and fists when you could have long, sharp knives in both hands? It had taken a moment to find ones that didn't burn her hands (a fact that had given Isabelle inside her head some faint, brief joy), but she'd managed.

She couldn't get inside people's heads from within this body, but that didn't mean she couldn't inflict death upon them, anyway.

"You could've lost a whole lot more than your knees," Atton said, rolling his eyes. "Keep walking. You don't want that thing lurking by the door waiting for you to come close enough."

He could kinda tell something was suddenly missing from Atton's noggin.

"Oh, I'm not going anywhere near that fucking door until this is all sorted out," Sparkle promised, crawling forward a little more before pulling himself back to his feet and skipping another few steps into the chapel. And then he turned around and stuck his tongue out at The Big Boo for good measure.

He figured it was only fair. Boo was sticking his tongue out at him first.

"I have this, like, sense of self-preservation that's kind of screaming at me to go nowhere the fuck near whatever the hell that is, going on outside right now."

It didn't sound pretty.

If there's anyone who doesn't mind SP through the day, "Derek" gave Kira the brilliant idea to try to electrically shock someone who's possessed to get the ghost out of them. :D So, if someone wants Kira to try to shock them (or actually succeed) just let me know.

"Good," Atton said. Wasn't he a big beacon of approval? "Go with that instinct. Stick it through. Then when this is done, you and I are going to take a couple of afternoons so you don't just let ghosts waltz into your head. Oh, and calling me if something weird happens."

"I don't think you were around," Sparkle protested with a little wrinkle of his nose, "and by the time you were, I couldn't make a phone call anyway. But I tried to get someone's attention, at least. Like, I can pull up that podcast..."

The joy of being possessed by a very stupid ghost while on the air.

"... Wouldn't mind those afternoons, though," he added, trying not to fall into a sulk.

He needed them, yeah.

"Well, good," Atton repeated. He eyed the exit. "Force knows you'll probably have to deal with something at graduation, at the very least. I'm going to be really annoyed if my TA craps out on me right when we have to do paperwork."

She's certainly welcome to shock Dammers-in-Pinkie! Pinkie can take it. Thanks to cartoon physics, she'll just come out slightly singed.

Question! The strike team: can they fight in the docks thread, or are they already on the boat?

"Well, yeah. Wouldn't that suck? Here's the island, all full of guests, and there's me, running around and trying to talk people into go-kart races."

Yeah, he was so giving Atton a cheeky little grin, now.

Tate lingered as deep on the grounds as he could get, arms folded, looking greatly smug about the proceedings. No one was taking him down without a fight.

I have a ghost that needs a ghost to fight! :)

Hannibob will be wanting to help out; if any other ghost wants to fight him...?

Heck, if any not-ghost wants to try fighting him not knowing he's switched sides, that would work, too!
