Mary was putting the final touches on the Christmas tree in the lobby. The glass ornaments that she had used in previous years had met with an unfortunate accident when Gunther had a bit too much schnapps. The round metal ornaments she'd gotten as replacements weren't as pretty, but they were more likely to survive catastrophe. Also, when Mary looked at them, she kept seeing images of herself lying on the couch in her old room with an ice pack on her ankle. She'd almost forgotten that first Christmas she spent in Fandom.
