"I missed you," Alana announced to the books when she came into the shop. Going home had been a good move; not only did it give her some necessary distance from possession, but it had been juuuust annoying enough to remind her why she went to boarding school in the first place.
Still, she'd missed some things. Like her friends, and pizza, and cell phone reception, and the shop. She went around straightening displays, touching the books as lightly and familiarly as if they were old friends.
