Fandom Trooper Station, Friday after Leland Gaunt's arrest

There was something satisfying about doing things by the book. After the recovery team broke (some would say unnecessarily, since the door worked) into Needful Things and Jessica arrested Leland Gaunt, she got to march the bastard through town alongside the fence of the school and all the way over to the Trooper Station where she got to subject him to fingerprinting and arrest photos. Seriously, it was probably a jerk move that she made him go through the mundane crap like that before locking him up, but if anyone deserved mundane crap, it was this guy.

Once he was in the cell, Jessica had some troopers get chairs and start making coffee before addressing them and anyone else who had come with her rather than going to the clinic.

"Okay, everyone. The troopers and I will be here watching over Gaunt to make sure he doesn't try any funny business from here on out. Fingers crossed, with him out of the store hopefully everything is better by the time people wake up tomorrow," Jessica explained. "If you want to wait around in case he pulls something shifty, the coffee will be up soon. Just remember, don't take anything he offers you. I don't care if it's a compliment, reject it. That webbing is going to dissolve in about a half hour and then we have to put up with his stupid mouth and whatever comes out of it. Good? Good."

"Coffee," Atton croaked upon arrival.

Never had a man looked so happy to be clutching a cup of police station coffee.

"Thanks," Atton said, passing his empty cup to Ralph immediately. "Is this over now? Please tell me this is over now."

Thumping in the back of his head was saying it wasn't, yet, but that might just be slow on the upkeep.

"Crawling their way back up, but miserable," Atton reported. "It's going to be a while before some of these kids get their heads back in order after the whammy Gaunt put on them."

"I had been planning to stick around here all night, but I might head back there later," Atton admitted. "Friend of mine's in a bad state."

"Sparkle," Atton said, shrugging. "Don't know if you ever really talked to him."
suitably_heroic: (lsp: oh you know)

"I'll let him know," Atton said, with a little nod.

He slanted a glance towards the cells. "Nice work, by the way. The webbing was a good touch."
suitably_heroic: (lsp: ahhhh!)

"Very helpful," Atton agreed. "Helping him stick to his legal rights and everything."
suitably_heroic: (dsp: aww you poor thing)

Atton shrugged. "I'm not saying I could make someone disappear," he said, "But I could make someone disappear."

Atton, you were at a police station, talking to a deputy.

"Then you better keep that webbing coming before he opens his yap again," Atton said, shrugging, "And work on your 'no, Your Honor, he really is a soul-stealing monster from before the birth of our prophet' defense."

"Which also recognizes what this guy did as a crime, will take the proof of 'several sheets of notes written by a bunch of rodents', and is willing to consider us under their jurisdiction for a while," Atton said. "Which might be opening a whole new can of trouble..."
suitably_heroic: (dsp: oh ffs)

Don't remind Atton about that. Someone had considered Fandom part of their jurisdiction once, all right.

"Sure," he said. "Either way, thanks for the coffee."

Atton had dumped the box off at the clinic and, after making sure nobody was stealing anything from it, he was coming over here.

Like an hour later than everyone else, but hey, that just made it cosy. Right, Lee? Right.

No offense to the troopers, but Anakin had worked with a lot of them and while they were smarter than battle droids (not tough...), he was still going to be keeping both eyes on the creepy condescending bad guy tonight.

Leland Gaunt did not looked like he was in any way intimidated by the fact that he was in jail. He was going to sit here, bemused.

"You must be very proud of yourselves," he said, in a mocking tone.

It had been some time since Cara had last watched a prisoner, but some things you didn't lose the knack of. She settled in with the ease of long familiarity.
