Jack was surprised to be in such a good mood today, after the wreck the island had been just days before. But somehow he was not just cheerful, but productively cheerful. By a little after lunchtime, he had gotten the club's financial records into perfect order, ordered needed supplies and liquor, and read some case studies for school. He'd even organized the wreck in the back office that he called his desk.

He read a cocktail manual while he waited for customers. He'd been meaning to learn some new specials, and today he finally felt up to it.
