A Stone, Somewhere In The Woods, Thursday
The stone was stronger, now. Not a trace of its original wear and tear remained.
Its song rang out as clear as it could be, finding even the ears of those that lurked in the shadows.
if you dream them, they will come.
It wished for the echoes of those long gone to reach it-- to call them back.
[[ dreamers, come touch the stone! nfb ]]

This morning, he stopped resisting it, followed that call back to its source and stood there, staring down at it. Ah, yes. He knew this. And for a moment, Jonothon stood torn, wondering just how selfish it would be for him to --
-- crouch down, and gently brush his fingers against cool stone. The way he had done, almost without realizing that he was doing so. And just like that, the siren song stopped calling him, and his reservations left him.
He stood, and turned, and left, feeling a little more at peace.

It didn't take her very long; Celia was quite good at following where her feelings led, and when she found the stone in the woods, she knew -- without really knowing how she knew -- that she'd found what she was looking for.
She knelt, brushing her fingers against the stone, and closed her eyes. This felt better, though she wasn't sure why. Her mother still dominated her thoughts, a warm but persistent presence at the edge of her mind, but Celia felt much more at peace with it.
And honestly, as she walked back to the dorms, she felt more at peace about her mother than she had in a decade.

It was fairly late into Thursday that he finally showed up, his hands shoved into the pockets of his jacket and his feet adopting a casual stroll. A stroll that didn't end until he was standing directly in front of the stone.
"Screw you," he said. "Get out of my head, or I'm coming back with a hammer."
Then he turned and left.

But, unfortunately for him, that lure managed to pull in Puppy Joe. And with him came Derek who was still a little out of it from the strange dreams he'd been having this week. That was the excuse he'd use to explain why he managed to walk right into the damn stone despite his best efforts.
"You're the worst dog ever."
Puppy Joe was unrepentant.

On her usual run through the Preserve, she found herself taking a new path without thinking about it.
There was a stone in the clearing she stopped in. Hanna curled up next to it for a while, face pressed to its smooth surface, sadness heavy in her stomach. So many unanswered questions....
She left a little lighter, and tried to forget the interlude as soon as she was out of sight.
