Luke's, Monday
"Hey boss," the cook greeted when Eliot came in. "Just so's ya know, there's a --"
"No," Eliot said, walking right past him towards the office.
"Okay, but --"
"Nope." Something crashed behind him, but Eliot didn't turn to look. "Don't want to know."
"Oh geez," the busboy breathed. "How did it get so big?"
"Close the freezer!" the dishwasher shouted. "Close the goddamn freezer already!"
"But --" the cook tried again. Eliot smacked a specials list into his chest and walked past again, this time headed for the dining room.
"It's going to be a normal week, dammit," he said.
"Technically, though, for around here --"
"Normal!"
Today's specials
Triple chocolate beef & bean chili
Baked potato with brussels sprouts and bacon
Orange soda cake
Luke's was open.

Talk to Eliot
Re: Talk to Eliot
"We have to give a Final tomorrow." She still looked a little drawn from the weekend events, but mostly okay. "And it should be fun for them. I'm thinking crocodiles."
Re: Talk to Eliot
Because of course he'd had to deal with crocodiles before.
Re: Talk to Eliot
Re: Talk to Eliot
Which he'd managed to see. Despite not owning a television.
Re: Talk to Eliot
CAKE, ELIOT. CAKE. CHOCOLATE CAKE. SHOULD NOT BE A LIE.
Re: Talk to Eliot
Re: Talk to Eliot
Yeah.
Re: Talk to Eliot
And had some excellent points about why, but that didn't mean Eliot wasn't going to worry.

"What's goin' on with the freezer?" he asked. "The staff's huddled around it with spears. Eliot, why does your staff have spears?"
Re: Talk to Eliot
He didn't want to know about the spears, Hardison. And he was reasonably certain neither did you.
Re: Talk to Eliot
"I could loan them my taser. But that wouldn't be as fun."
RE: Re: Talk to Eliot
"Them our brussels sprouts on the menu?" he asked, meaning did you put her taser back? "You can't just go into our kitchen an' steal our food, man. Boundaries!"
Re: Talk to Eliot
"If they didn't get cooked, they were gonna go bad," Eliot said, meaning yes, dammit, what am I, an idiot? "Like you two have any room to talk about 'boundaries'."
Re: Talk to Eliot
Maybe it was time to do that again.
RE: Re: Talk to Eliot
"See? Look at all that boundary-respectin' we're doing," he said, slowly easing Eliot's mug back towards himself. "I haven't..." Hardison tried to think of things he would normally do, but hadn't recently. "Stolen anything out of your fridge. Not that I'd do that anyway. Cause that would be very wrong."
Re: Talk to Eliot
Re: Talk to Eliot
Right, what was it they were figuring out, exactly?
RE: Re: Talk to Eliot
"Well, we saw last weekend there weren't anymore bear traps in your place. Which, y'know, good job, way not to have bear traps around the children, gold star." Reluctantly, he gestured to one of kitchen staff to bring him a coffee since Eliot's was now a no-go. The busboy made a face, reluctantly surrendering his spear to the cook before going to the coffeepot.
There was a loud BANG! against the freezer door causing everyone in the kitchen to jump. And Hardison, too, let's be real.
"So, talking?" he said, trying not to think about what the hell was in that freezer. "Talking's a thing. That we can do."
Re: Talk to Eliot
He maybe hadn't worked out that it had been a 'con you into a relationship' thing, just yet.
