The Parking Lot | Monday Evening

Even though Ronan was pretty used to the island being a giant dipshit, it still didn't meant he dealt with it well. After this weekend, he'd prowled around his room for awhile before stomping out, yelling at some random person in town before eventually ending up in the parking lot with his car.

He popped the hood of the BMW and looked around. He knew the basics of mechanics but he was pretty sure his car was in good enough shape that nothing needed to be worked on. This was just where he felt the most comfortable, the most level. This weekend, he'd apparently been decently happy and doing...some kind of relationship thing with Adam.

He didn't even like Adam.

(Did he?)

And he and Blue had seemed pretty chummy and what had happened to him in his old age? Ronan growled again and punched the engine block, making his knuckles sting. He'd preferred to think of himself growing old alone and being surly right up until his untimely death in a fiery accident.

But, apparently he stayed alive. That was...that was good.

It was fairly unusual to find anyone else in the parking lot, so Hannibal nodded to the boy as he headed for his Bentley. "Preventative maintenance, or performance issues?"

"Preventative," he said, not pulling his attention from underneath the hood. There was nothing wrong with his car but punching the engine block would probably change that so he stopped. "Car's fine."

Hannibal nodded as he opened his door and leaned in to get to the glovebox. "I've never been into mechanics myself, but I understand using tools is generally easier on your hands."

"I prefer doing things the hard way." Or the painful way. He leaned out from underneath the hood to take a peek at the car that belonged to Dr. Lecter. "Fancy wheels."

"No fancier than the rest of the car," Hannibal said, grinning. He closed the door and went to the next space, where a Triumph and a Norton sat together. "Are you a fan of cars, then?"

"Depends on the car," he said, leaning against the bumper of his car. "I'm not gonna get excited over a Kia."

The faster the better when it came to Ronan.

Hannibal chuckled. "Is there anybody who would? Not counting anybody for whom it would be the only car they could get."

"All of these yours?" he asked, nodding towards the Bentley, the Triumph and the Norton. "You're like half the parking lot."

Hannibal shook his head as he unlocked the Triumph's compartment. "That one," he nodded at the Norton, "is my partner's. The bikes are recent purchases, the car...well, I rarely use it these days, but I'm rather fond of it."

"Motorcycles aren't really my thing." They were nice, though. "I prefer cars. More horsepower, more metal."

More ways to completely mess himself up, really.

"You ride these through those dinky streets in town?"

"Good lord, no," Hannibal said, laughing. Not that he hadn't dared Jono to. "I imagine we'd terrify the rickshaw drivers."

"That almost seems like a benefit to me," Ronan pointed out. "They should be terrified driving those things around."
