Eliot was extremely pleased to wake up and find his body back to normal, yes. His good mood based on this fact lasted right up until he walked into the kitchen at the diner and discovered that every single flat surface in the place was occupied by baskets of strawberries.

"The busboy went strawberry picking this weekend," the cook said.

Eliot looked around and finally spotted the busboy lying on the floor between berry baskets. "I can't move," the busboy moaned. "My arms are gonna fall off."

Eliot resisted the urge to punch something. "Why did you bring them all here?"

The busboy, the cook, and the dishwasher all stared at him blankly. Eliot threw his hands in the air and stomped back out of the kitchen.

Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about

One person hazing her Claire could see. When two people on radio were also reporting weird stuff, she had to think that maaaybe there was something to this 'this town is weird' thing. Also, she'd been called out so it was hard to ignore that. Thus, there was a visit to Luke's.

"So where's my drink?" she asked when she came in.

Eliot laughed. "Well, I've got beer and scotch on hand," he said. "We don't really serve a lot of liquor, here."

"Beer's fine. It's an excuse to check out one of the bars here anyway," Claire decided. "So you were a girl."

"Briefly," Eliot said with a small sigh, as he pulled a bottle of beer -- not Hardison's brew, you're welcome, Claire -- out of the cooler. "Apparently that's something that happens around here. Which no one thought to warn me about in the last year I've lived here."

Claire frowned. "I'd think that would be the first thing you tell people when they show up," she said.

"It's going to be topping my list from now on," Eliot said. "I did hear it goes the other way, too, though. So, uh. Guess you've got that to look forward to."

"...I'm moving back to New York," Claire decided. "This makes that crazy seem normal."

"Why'd you move down here in the first place?" Eliot asked. "You don't seem like much of a small town sort of type."

"There was a guy." Which was the vaguest way to explain it, but she couldn't exactly get into the details. "After that busted up I figured I needed a serious change for a while. And I guess I got that..."

"Well, there's still guys around. When the island let's us be guys," Eliot said. "But yeah, other than that, this place is gonna be a pretty big change for most folks."

"You seriously turn into kids here?" Claire asked. "That might be weirder than switching genders in 2015."

"I didn't. That one skipped me. But my staff did, and as far as I can tell so did most of the rest of the town."

"That's so messed up. Were you stuck babysitting the whole time?" Claire wondered.

"Just the ones who happened to wander into the diner," Eliot said. What? No one could be responsible for that many kids by themselves. "Pretty much anything weapon shaped seemed to have turned into plastic or foam, though, so I guess the rest of 'em did okay."

"And the place hasn't burned down. Huh," Claire said, considering this.

"The mayor lives next door to me and occasionally throws giant drinking parties," Eliot said. "The fact this place is still standing surprises me, too."

They're finally repaving the road outside my apartment. On the one hand, noisy. On the other, that thing has been more pothole than road since I moved in six years ago.
