The giant duck was back.
Well. A giant duck, though Éponine couldn't be sure if it was the same one that had shown up here a long time ago. If it was the same duck, it had acquired a rather expensive-looking top hat in the meantime.
Regardless, there it was, sitting in the lobby and watching over the door.
"Can I expect you to watch the place for me while I'm out, then?" Éponine asked it, then waited for a good thirty seconds or so, humming absently to herself before nodding. "Well, you haven't refused, so it'll be your lookout until I get back."
You had to make these things clear sometimes.
