Eliot had spent a good chunk of his evening last night catching up with his friend Toby back in Portland. Since Toby was the man who'd taught Eliot basically everything he knew about cooking and food, this had put Eliot in a somewhat insufferable "chef" mood.
"What do you mean we don't have any bone marrow? That freezer's the size of Rhode Island, how can it not have any bone marrow in it?!"
"Uh, okay," the cook said. "You remember where this is a diner, not a Michelin star restaurant, right?"
The busboy gurgled and flailed behind them, trying to pull the squid off his face.
"Yeah," Eliot said with a sigh. "I noticed."

Squid ink pasta with shrimp, nduja, and tomato
Asparagus goat cheese bruschetta with porcini vinaigrette
Chocolate chip and orange cannoli
Luke's was open. And not yet overrun with angry squid.
