Freedom Arms | Tuesday

The great thing about AI? They were more than happy to do inventory work for you while you sat back with the latest edition of People. Delta didn't mind York's laziness in this case; he always seemed to mess up his extensive system anyway.

[OCD-free!]

"Do you actually do work here?" Wash asked, eyeing York's choice of reading material.

Uh huh. "And that involves catching up on the love affairs of celebrities."

"I teach conspiracy theories," Wash replied. "It's just trolling Reddit and trying not to lose all faith in humanity."

"They're not that bad." Kind of. "Only some of them are assholes."

"You keep beer by the cash register?" Wash asked, voice going high in mortified judgement.

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-21 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS MUCH WAS TRUE.

Wash sighed. "Yes. Yes, I'd like a beer."

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-21 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Wash rolled his eyes and went back to get a beer for himself. And none for York.

"Enjoying your new employment?"

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Do I even want to know what you did before this?"

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Fair enough." It was nice that almost anything was a moral step up from Project Freelancer. "Try not to get into that here. Though I don't think I've ever seen a cop here."

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll keep an eye on that too. And if--if any of the others pop up."

The few they might have wanted to see again.

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Or North and South. They've been off the radar too."

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Before I would have bet on it," Wash replied with a sigh. "But who knows?"

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Wash took a drink of his beer, thinking of Connie instead of South at that. "You ever try telling him that?"

Because Wash would have loved to see it.

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Because it was a weak spot. Like Carolina's damn near pathological need to be better than Tex.

"Hi, Delta," Wash said dryly. "I can't believe you made your AI tell him."

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, he gets that from somewhere."

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"No, you're just notorious for not being able to get a lock open."

Ooo, burn!

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Wash rolled his eyes as he leaned against the counter, grinning faintly. "Because I cared about the board."

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Wash flipped him off, feeling more relaxed than he had in a long time. "Oh, keep an eye out for a kid who thinks we should all be dead in a nuclear apocalypse. Had to take his gun from him."

Who did he think he was? John Connor?

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2015-07-22 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Wash shrugged. "It was news to me too."
