So, there was an alien ship over the island. Which was as good a reason for Washington to be back in his armor as anything would ever be.

It was also a good reason for him to be well armed as he eyed the ship. The ship that was just hanging out there.

Wow, this was so much less exciting than it had started out.

York had donned his armor as soon as he noticed the alien weirdness as well. Better safe than sorry.

"Is this normal for here?"

"I don't think so." There was a pause as Wash sighed up at the ship. "It's not even actively attacking."

"Maybe it's just visiting," York said. "This is a nice place."

"So, they're just going to hover overhead and abduct people at random instead?"

This used to be way easier when you just shot at aliens.

"Well...maybe they're being nice to them." Look, York was trying to find the bright side of things.

Wash considered that. "Still think we should get the rocket launcher ready."

"Dude, are you trying to start an intergalactic confrontation?" he asked.

"No," Wash replied peevishly. "I'm being prepared."

For the inevitable intergalactic confrontation.

"A rocket launcher is over preparation," York said. "If those guys come out of there and see you holding a rocket launcher they are going to get insulted."

This is why meeting the Reds and Blues wasn't that far off from normal. This right here, guys.

"I wouldn't be holding it. It would just be at hand."

"Whatever," he said, looking up at the spacecraft. "Think we should be doing something useful?"

"You're just a business owner," Wash replied. "And I'm a teacher."

In highly advanced, military grade armor used to fight in an intergalactic war.

"And unless you stole one of those jet packs when you left Project Freelancer..."

"Unfortunately, no. The only thing I stole was Delta," he said. "And this armor."

"Probably for the best." Then he muttered, "Still don't know what happened to Agent Georgia."

Thankfully York's smile couldn't be seen through his helmet. "So what should we do here? Just stare at the thing?"

"What does Delta say?" Other than that they were wasting time and energy on things that weren't productive to solving the problem.

"That there's not enough information to make a reasonable decision," he said. "And then suggested we do research."

Which involved reading. No thank you.

Yeah, that wasn't really in the cards right now.

"I thought the AIs were supposed to be useful," Wash joked dryly. "We can't stand around and wait for it to make a move."

"We also can't barge in and attack them."

So they were at a stand still.

While looking up at the alien space ship. Wash sighed, watching it rather than come up with a plan. "Try not to get abducted in the meantime."

"If anybody gets abducted it'll be you." Because you were a mess, Wash.

"Why would I get abducted?" He was not a mess at all. He was just... in a transitional phase.

Wash rolled his eyes, sighing again like the giant buzzkill he was lately. "Whatever. Just try not to get abducted and I'll do the same."

"Works for me." Then, under his breath, he added, "Cockbite."

"I will shove you off this building."

"Well, maybe I'll have been abducted before you get up here again."

"I'd push you now, but I'm concerned you'd break a hip," Wash replied. "You're the old man now that Wyoming isn't around."

"Never said you couldn't," Wash replied, sounding smug at getting in a jab.

And he was no Carolina about someone being better than him.

In no way did Wash ever want to even think about York's masculinity.

"It's okay, grandpa," Wash said with a pat on York's shoulder.
