Lukes, Thursday

"Yo man, 'sup?" 'Hardison' greeted as she made her way into the diner, laptop (covered with stickers of Greetings Kitten and all her friends, like a real hacker's laptop) under her arm. "I got some ideas for the specials today, aiiiight?"

"Finally came out of hibernation, huh?" the cook asked, not looking up.

"Yeah, well, you know," 'Hardison' said, smirking a little. "For a little while, anyway."

"I like your tiara," said the dishwasher.

"Aw yeah, right?" 'Hardion' preened a little, resettling the little plastic pink and silver princess tiara on her head. "Just a little somethin-somethin I picked up." She grabbed a seat at a booth and opened her laptop. "I'mma email you those specials."

And she proceeded to start laboriously tapping away at her laptop using only her two pointer fingers.

Today's specials
Cucumber sandwiches
Lemon buttermilk scones with lavender jelly
English trifle

Luke's was open, OCD-free, and starring a permissibly impersonated faux-Hardison.

He liiiiives.

Well, sort of.

He at least was awake. Drac took advantage of a passing cloud to run into to the diner only slightly smoking. "Do you happen to serve wormcakes?" he asked, a rather hopeful look on his face.

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-07 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah. Hello?" Drac eyed the strange man a moment at that strange greeting, but he was on the Island, so he was sort of expecting weird.

"The freezer... you're not a self-service restaurant, now, are you?" Because Drac did okay in the kitchen, but only if he had to. And there were leftovers. And a cook.

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-07 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"I see." Drac took his hand and shook it, inclining his head a bit in a nod-y bow as he did. "And no. I don't believe we have, Mr Hardison."

Sorry... Drac was Old School.

"I am Count Dracula. It is a pleasure to meet you. Do you own Luke's now, or simply managing it? I've not been, ah, shall we say, paying attention? to island matters lately."

Drac nodded; he knew how that could happen. "That young man with the preference for printed shirts and kilts?" Fashion-sense aside, "he's always seemed a nice young man."

"Mr Spencer?"

Not that Drac had any idea whether or not that was the correct name, but the men were supposed to be in a relationship. Wasn't it odd that this man who asked not to be called 'mr' was referring to his beloved as 'mr'?

Suspicious Drac was suspicious. And wondering if he was being made a fool of.

But how did one call someone on this sort of lie? Or did one?

Drac was going to settle for the frowny and expectant half-glare and raised eyebrow he gave Mavis when he suspected but couldn't prove anything.

Yeeeah. "I've found people here tend not to stand on formality like that." Just Drac did, actually. And maybe Doctor Lecter.

"You must have known him for some time if he allows you to be here in his stead."

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-08 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably?" Drac eyed him again. "Mr Hardison, are you perhaps exaggerating your relationship with Mr Spencer?" He sounded like Mavis when she had been in her 'yuck boys' phase.

(He missed that decade.)

"Yes. The radio is a very reliable source of news," Drac deadpanned. "You'll forgive me if I have trouble with that as your only documentation."

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-09 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
And if Hardison were actually telling a convincing story, Drac might not be curious as to why he was being lied to.

Actually, though...

Drac sighed, tired, and facepalmed, shifting his cape as he took a seat. "You do know that I actually have no authority here, yes? There's no need to tell me lies."

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-09 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Drac coughed. Definitely wasn't a chortle or a laugh. Nope. Cough.

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-09 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe they don't listen to the radio either?"

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-09 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Those innocent eyes seemed a bit familiar... Not that Drac was sure why.

"Is the island up to something?" Drac chuckled. "Or are you?"

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-09 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh." At that flash, Drac's smile froze slightly... then softened. "You'd better not be causing any trouble. Being totally normal, I mean."

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-09 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably?" Drac smiled and leaned back, pressing a hand to his chest pocket. "Hmm. Do I have money for police fines and repair bills..."

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-09 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I doubt you'd want to phone him for the assistance." Drac's smile was even fonder at the subtle confirmation of identity. "And I know you wouldn't. I trust you."

"I'm fine. I stayed home for a while to, uh, recover." And try to work up the courage to come back. He'd stolen that gem from Jono's young guardian; how could he face either of them?

[identity profile] bluhblahbluh.livejournal.com 2015-08-09 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're never a bother, little one."

Drac reached out to cover her hand with one of his, if she'd let him. "I apologize. I didn't mean to worry you. It really did take me a while to get better. Apparently draining the life energies out of a vampire is easier than getting them back. Especially when I am not able to eat human blood."
