The Perk, Sunday Morning

Sarah was back. Shocking no one.

Well, the barista might've been a little taken aback that she ordered tea instead of her usual monstrously black coffee. But that was a minor detail, and also that barista was clearly too sensitive for his own good if he was that shocked by a minor change.

Sarah and her tea took a seat by the window, and settled down to watch the street. Come on, Fandom. Be interesting.

"Still here, huh?" Bellamy asked as he waltzed in to buy something that might wake him up. Sleeping in the woods wasn't really conducive to great nights of sleep but it was all he had until he saved up some money.

But hey, he'd found ways to clean himself up and he'd managed to acquire (illegally) some new clothes so he was doing okay for himself.

Sarah glanced up.

"Oh, look," she drawled, "you exist in the daytime."

So guess he wasn't just an exhaustion hallucination her brain had concocted up to annoy her.

"How observant of you," Bellamy remarked, wandering over to the barista. His order was simple: water. It didn't cost much and he didn't want anything else in his system. Needed to stay clear headed.

"Having a better day today?" he asked once his water bottle was in hand.

"Oh, I'm just stellar."

Well, enough so to have more of her edge back. London had shaken some of the feeling of being worn down out of her. Also, she had tea and a donut and those made a difference, somehow.

"How long that'll last now that you're here, we'll see."

"What, you're not happy to see me?" he asked, kicking out a chair at her table and dropping into it. He needed no invitation. "And why's that?"

"You're annoying," she replied. Because she hadn't needed very much at all to make that assessment.

"Am I?" It wasn't a denial, at least. He knew he could be a prick. "And why's that? Because I told you some brutal truth?"

"Because you're an asshole," Sarah answered, brightly, with the kind of sweetness that was all acid underneath the surface. As if the words weren't enough on that front. "That's why."

"All that judgment from one conversation?" Not that she was wrong but he was amused. Bellamy sat back and kicked his legs out underneath the table. "How perceptive you must be."

He was liable to get his ankles kicked if he took up too much space.

She shrugged. "Really doesn't take too much to spot an asshole. You lot are easy."

Oh, Bellamy could take up a lot of space. He kept his feet to himself, not coming that close to her legs but he was a tall guy and stretched out lazily.

"You're trying really hard to start a fight, aren't you?" he asked, drinking his water and sounding amused. "Keep going, it's entertaining."

Sarah snorted.

"You think that's what I'm doing?"

Oh you sweet summer child.

"It's not?" Color him surprised. "What are you doing? Trying to get to know me? See what makes me tick?"

"I'm talking, you twit," she rasped. "You're reading far too much interest in you into what I'm doing."

"Oh sorry, my mistake," he said, putting a hand on his chest and sounding completely insincere. "Guess that makes what I'm doing talking too. Our second conversation together. Wow."

"Wow, you've mastered the cognitive abilities of a six-year-old," Sarah retorted, slouching a little in her seat and picking up her tea. "How impressive."

Bellamy laughed and smiled at her from across the table.

"Why are you so angry?" he wondered. "I don't think it's just me."

"I'm not angry." It was hard to name it in those terms when it was more like a permanent feature. "I'm just easily annoyed. By idiots."

"Fine, then," he said, getting to his feet with a shake of his head and a little laugh. "I've got other things to do anyway. No skin off my back."

He stretched before tossing his bottle into the trash.

"Aw, going so soon?" Sarah cooed with a heavy dose of sarcasm. "Too much for you?"

Bellamy snickered and looked down at her, arms crossed.

"Why, you want me to stay or something?" he wondered. "I'm doing just fine but I've got lots of other things to with my time."

Sarah gave his question a slow shrug and a tilt of her head.

"Just seemed like you can't handle talking."

Bellamy shook his head, amused and entertained. "I can handle plenty, sweetheart. But, you weren't really talking about anything interesting."

Sarah raised her eyebrows. "Harsh words from a bloke who sat down at my table without an invitation."

"I didn't think I needed an invitation," he told her, shrugging. "The chair was empty, I wanted to sit down, so I sat. And now I'm gonna leave because my water's gone and all you're not talking about anything interesting anymore."

"It wasn't interesting in the first place."

She would've bet money on that.

"You don't have the air of someone interested in talking, anyway. But have it your way, I guess."

"I'm interested in lots of stuff," Bellamy told her, smirking. "But yes, I'll have it my way. Enjoy your...whatever that drink is and your empty table."

"Tea, you uncultured swine." Said with a smile. "You have fun with your... whatever it is you do that's not talking or being uninterested."

Bellamy snickered, shook his head and then turned around to slip out the door and head down and away from the Perk.
