Our Lady of Fandom, Saturday Morning

Gabriel chose not to try and explain to himself why he had returned to the place where he had lived through the aftermath of his most humiliating defeat. He was an archangel and had been turned into a monkey, a human. Yes, there had been a lesson to learn from it, and that had stayed with him, but it didn't mean he liked to think of it often.

Cat yawned and found a comfortable spot on one of the pews. She had stayed with him ever since Karal had brought her to Gabriel in this very church, claiming that he needed company. Perhaps he had been right, but Gabriel didn't think of that often either.

He folded his wings, hiding them, and remained perched on one of the beams, like some accidental sculpture.

Well, it was safe to say this was going to be an interesting visit. "Enjoying yourself?"

Gabriel stared quietly at the visitor for a moment. "Do you think this is a place for entertainment?"

"Where else but the house of our father?" Lucifer countered as he leaned forward to rest his elbows against the pew in front of him.

Spreading his wings, Gabriel leapt into the air and landed in front of the altar. "The monkeys seem to stay away from here at least."

"I wonder why that might be."

With the pissy arch-angels and all.

Huh. The island had a church. Somehow, Dante hadn't seen this one coming. It looked abandoned anyway, which got his attention; he wandered towards the doors and nudged them open.

"What's that saying? Quiet as a church mouse?"

And thus, enter one demon-angel hybrid.

Oh, it as just adorable. All impotent rage and destiny balled into bad manners.

"That is what they say, yes."

Hey, now, nothing about Dante's rage was impotent. It usually ended in him slicing apart whatever screwed with him this time. (Usually.)

He looked sideways for the source of the voice. "Not so quiet, then," he said. "Guess we've still got the church-going kind."

You keep telling yourself that, Dante. You just keep telling yourself that.

"Of sorts," Lucifer replied, turning to look at the boy rather than just feeling his presence.

Nah, he did. That's why the demons all liked him so much.

He thought. He wasn't sure. They'd started it.

"And who the hell are you?" Dante demanded. There was something off about this guy.

"Clearly you're more of a rat than a mouse," Gabriel observed from his place up on the beam.

Cat looked up, displeased that someone interrupted her nap.

Dante took a quick step back at the noise, his sword flaring to life on his back. "What the hell?" he demanded, staring up at Gabriel.

"Language, or I might have to rip your tongue out." Gabriel pushed himself off the beam and landed in front of the altar.

"How about you come over here and try, you weedy-looking sack of shit?"

You were such a charmer, Dante.

Castiel wasn't entirely certain why or how he'd ended up back in Fandom. He remembered enough about the place to realize it worked in its own mysterious ways, though, and decided to, as Dean might put it, "roll with it".

The first place he went to go see was the church. He'd had a nice time maintaining this little place when he'd lived here, after all.

He wondered if there were still any of the cats around.

"Interesting," Gabriel said. "You might think this place was abandoned, but clearly it's attracting crowds."

Cat jumped down from the pew and positioned herself in the middle of the aisle.

"That's unfortunate," Castiel said, crouching down and offering Cat his hand to sniff assuming Cat is a cat, or some other small animal. "In my time it was well cared for, if not well attended."

"When I lived here it was peaceful at least," Gabriel replied, glaring at Cat who purred and tried to get the stranger to scratch her behind the ear. Treacherous animal!

Cats were like that, yes. Castiel was more than willing to scratch behind her ears.

"Really?" Castiel asked. "When I lived here we were invaded on a fairly regular basis."

And Lucifer thought the first kid was adorable, but look at this baby angel in a... human suit. Why was he in a human suit.

"Which one are you?"

Because burning people's eyes out when they looked at you was just impolite.

"I am the angel Castiel." A bit worse for wear and running on borrowed grace, but angelic enough, anyway. "Who the hell are you?"

The Winchesters' belligerence in the face of much greater power had rubbed off on him.

It certainly did. Then again, the Winchesters were sort of a force all their own.

"I am the angel Lucifer."

"This place is just getting busier by the minute, isn't it?" Dante said. "Lot of friendly foot traffic."

He was mostly talking to himself at this point. After his past two encounters here, Rebellion wasn't leaving the physical plane any time soon.

"It would seem so." At least this one was human. Castiel rather liked humans better than angels, most days. "I am Castiel. I used to live here."

Nah. Not human at all. Just enough of both angel and demon to be confusing. Not that Dante was aware of it, so 'human' worked just as well for the moment, really.

"In church?" Dante asked, raising an eyebrow. (At least this one wasn't a complete dick.) "That's a little dramatic."
