Anders hadn't made it to the dance the day before, but he'd run into Umbridge, which was its own kind of delight. He was nonetheless in an all right mood as he got to the shop and set up for the day. There was a shipment of toads for use in spells -- very tricky, especially since the toads weren't quite as dead as they normally were and kept hopping all over the place.
He was chasing one of the last ones into their terrarium when he suddenly felt a sharp jab at his ankle, and looked down to see a green ... thing that definitely wasn't a toad sinking its teeth into his unprotected flesh. He cast a half-controlled bolt of fire at the gremlin, killing it (and scorching the floor), but it was too late. For the rest of his shift, he wouldn't do much but moan and lurch around the store, occasionally walking into walls and then righting himself. The doorknob was beyond his ken, but he scrabbled at the door trying to force it open for quite a while.
Once he gave up on that, he turned his attention to the tank of toads. They wouldn't be as tasty as people, but they still had the brains and blood he craved.

She walked into her old place of employment. Not that it had been a long employment, but still.
"Hello?"
no subject
"Girrrrl," he moaned, and took a few shambling steps toward her.
no subject
Vacant eyes and shambling steps never meant anything good. Then again, she had gone to college for a bit... And he might be a student. She distinctly remembered there being Rules about staking students. So she hesitated. "Boy?"
no subject
Not that he saw where it mattered, as a second later he was grabbing at the girl. She looked like she had tasty brains.
no subject
"Are you a student at the school?" she asked, warily. "Or are you one of the evil undead?"
Hey, they frequently did tell her when they were!
no subject
And then he lunged at her again, just as clumsily as before. He still needed braiiiiins, after all.
no subject
Suddenly things made perfect sense.
"The gremlins are the evil undead and they're biting people? See, other places that would sound insane, but here?" She shrugged. She was still stepping away from Anders whenever he tried to get at her. No brains for him! "Perfect sense."
no subject
And then he remembered he didn't really want to eat people, which rather put a damper on the whole enterprise. Some ounce of sense took over and he gestured to the door. "Go," he moaned, before he could change his mind and start trying to eat her again.
no subject
...She was going to feel really bad about that if Anders ate anybody.
no subject
He'd give Buffy "sorry I tried to eat you" apology flowers later. For now, he just drooled a bit and went to eat another toad.

Folks, His Majesty the King of Ferelden.
no subject
Sorry, Alistair.

Light (http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Holy_Smite_(Origins)) flashed near Anders.
no subject
Of course, it did that at the price of making said mage feel every inch of his body was on fire, but that was perhaps to be expected.
Anders sat down hard, groaning. "What was that?"
He'd thank Alistair in a moment.

He smiled wryly. "As for the light show, sorry. I don't break the old Templar powers out much these days, so they get a bit... fizzy."
no subject
He still wasn't thinking quite clearly. The man wasn't acting as if he meant to drag Anders off anywhere, and yet... well. Mage. Templar. Not historically a recipe for instant friendship.
no subject
Which the tiny mage should probably know. You know, there was something familiar about him, but Alistair just couldn't put his finger on it.
no subject
There would, of course, come a day when he wouldn't have much of a choice.
no subject
... Slightly less serious.
no subject
Yeah,not happening,but a man could dream.
"Anyhow," he added, "we already have a Seeker on the island. She fancies herself my personal watchdog." He did not sound as though he took this particularly seriously.
no subject
"Eesh," he said. "A Seeker? Oh, I don't envy you."
