The Perk, Monday Morning

If anyone had spotted black fox running about yesterday, chasing gremlins and generally looking like it was having the time of his life, yep, that had been Ezra.

He was back to being a guy today. And he felt he had more than earned the hot chocolate monstrosity in front of him on this fine morning. As well as his pre-class lounging at a table at the Perk just in general. Also he thought of it as making himself available. So really, it was like a public service.

... Mostly he was distracting the barista with idle flirty glances.

Nah; it was just that Dante's brand of fatalistic aggression happened to overlap with Ezra's healthy sense of self-interest on this one.

Dante drained the last of his drink. "After you," he said, smirking.

Eh, close enough.

Still enough for Ezra to also finish his drink before sliding onto his feet and strolling over to the counter with his best smirk.

"So my friend and I were wondering ––"

Dante leaned ever so lightly on the counter, smirking. "Ezra here thinks he qualifies as a 'work of art'," he said. "And he doesn't really trust my judgment."

"Well, I would," Ezra added, "if Dante here wouldn't insist on being contrary about it." He tsked. Then smiled at the barista. "So, we could really use an outside opinion. It'd involve... close inspection, of course."

The barista looked flustered.

Not uninterested, mind.

"And we really can't think of anyone who'd have a better perspective than you," Dante added, putting his other arm on the counter, too. "What do you say, lovely? Help us out?"

The barista hesitated.

Ezra leaned forward. "And of course, we'll make it very thoroughly worth your while," he supplied. "Please don't think we're just out to exploit your eye for art." He glanced sideways at Dante. "We're also prepared to appraise anything you want appraised. Or anything you might like to see appraised. Isn't that right, Dante?"

Dante grinned. It... was decidedly not a PG-13 sort of expression.

"I've got an eye for detail," he promised. "Long... short... little bit of both..."

"... My shift ends in ten minutes."

Said the barista, now blushing furiously.

Ezra's smirk got about as wide as it possibly could. "Well. That's absolutely lovely to hear."

Dante threw her a wink. "We'll catch you in ten minutes," he promised, pushing away from the counter. "Cheers."

Ezra bowed and blew the barista a kiss before he pulled away from the counter as well.

"Excellent."

Dante offered Ezra a smirk and a suggestive raise of his eyebrows as they wandered back towards the table.

As far as he was concerned, a fucked-up morning had just turned into an excellent afternoon.

Oh yes, it was going to be a fantastic day.
