There was an enormous tray of birthday cake martinis on the bar when Jack got in today. He waited until no one was looking, then slurped one down. It was sickly sweet but not bad at all.

He wasn't sure how many of the guests were still around, but he figured anyone who'd made it to this point in the long weekend deserved a treat. Which was why the sign in front of the club read:

Do you like birthday cake? Do you like martinis? Try this intriguing combination today!

Ooooh, martinis! Martinis were delightful things, especially since the glasses were perfectly bath-sized for her.

No, she wasn't going to bathe in one! That was very silly and of course not what she meant.

But could the very pretty boy please get her one of those birthday cake drinks? Tink had not gotten her drink on in a while. Tonight was a night for alcohol!!!

"By all means," Jack said, sliding a martini over to her. He wasn't sure how she'd drink it, but he suspected he was about to find out. "Let me know what you think of it. I think they're a little sweet, myself."

Well, she was going to ... hrm. Sit on the edge of it classily, and ...

Okay, look, maybe sometimes in the privacy of her own domicile she did just bathe in alcohol. Because who wouldn't want a martini bath? And the candy around the edge meant she couldn't sit on it, all cross-legged and glamorous.

Inspiration struck, and she zipped behind the counter to emerge with a beer stein, one taller than herself. There! She set it down upside-down right next to the martini. She could sit on that and lean over and just shove her face in the drink. Very lady-like.

Hmmmm. It was very sweet. Nice, but it lacked a little something. He didn't happen to have any absinthe, did he?

(Crashing! SP OK?)

Jack was very impressed by the athletics involved in her route to the drink, and his face turned apologetic when he realized she didn't seem to like it much.

"Sorry," he said. "It is sweet, isn't it? Do you see anything else you'd like?"

The absinthe was on a shelf just above his head.

For dancing and lounging, of course.
