Bellamy had a lot (a lot) of excess energy that needed to be burned off today. Sitting behind the counter just wasn't going to cut it so he was up and around, cleaning guns, disassembling and reassembling them, stocking ammunition, and just generally pacing around.

He couldn't really say where this had come from but something was gonna have to give later. He'd either be going out for a long run or he'd be going out to the mainland to find something to do. He wasn't sure which.

Isabela'd had a strange morning so far, she's gone down to check on the Siren's Call and was checking various stores out on the way back, but every single person she'd passed today had started 'yarr'- and 'ahoy'-ing her in the most bizarre fake accents.

It was the kind of thing that really distracted a girl from her window-shopping. Speaking of, she paused when she passed the door of the Arms.

Oh, yes, there was definitely something she liked the look of in here.

When Bellamy realized someone was looking at him and that someone was near the door, he wandered over and pushed the door open, smirking as he did.

"You gonna stare all day?"

"Provided I haven't anything better to do," Isabela replied, grinning back shamelessly.

Though really, most the time that qualifier was redundant.

"Or anyone better to do?" he added, stepping aside and inviting her inside if she so wanted. "Or am I wrong on that point?"

"Pretty and clever," Isabela said, strolling into the store, hips swaying. "I knew there was a reason I liked you, sweet thing."

Besides the sex.

"What a nice compliment," he said, letting the door shut behind her and leering shamelessly. He had no subtlety. "Why are you in town so early anyway? Thought you'd be asleep or something."

Subtlety was for people who weren't them.

"I think I'm developing bad habits with all these morning classes," she said, leaning back against the counter and stretching with the same studied carelessness as she had in the StuCo meeting yesterday. "And I had to check in on my ship, but now that's done, I could always head back to bed."

Bellamy would have answered the bed comment first but something else had caught his attention. He came over and leaned a hip against the counter beside her, arms crossed.

"Ship?"

Isabela had been hoping he'd pick up way she was laying down with the bed comment, but she was always ready to talk about her ship.

"The Siren's Call, down at the docks," she said, nodding in that vague direction. "Hard to miss, she's the most beautiful thing there."

He might not have questioned it first but he wouldn't forget it, she could rest assured. He'd lived on a space station most of his life, he was interested in things like transports.

"You have a crew or is it just you?" He hadn't been down to the docks to check out the size of this ship but he did know it typically took more people to run a ship than just one very capable woman.

Isabela hadn't even lasted a year before she was ready gnaw her own leg off to escape the trap of her marriage, and many of those walls had been invisible and metaphorical, she'd have been interested in anything that could've gotten her away from the actual walls of a space station.

"I had a crew." For a week. "But not any more, I'm afraid I'm not sailing anywhere for the moment."

"So, what do you use the ship for?" Bellamy wondered curiously. "To show off?"

He could see that being the case.

Escape. Being able to show off was just a side benefit.

"Once I get a new crew?" Which admittedly wasn't likely to happen any time soon. "Piracy."

"Piracy?" That was intriguing. "What kind of ship is this, just so I can make sure I'm thinking of the wrong thing. Water, right?"

Hey, he hadn't seen anything like that in a long time. He thought he deserved some leeway.

"It's a proud Rivaini tradition." That was one way of putting it. "And, yes, she goes in the the water, like a proper ship."

Unless you counted aravels and anyone who knew about them could see she wasn't Dalish.

"Sounds fun," Bellamy replied because it did. It sounded like she'd have a lot of freedom and independence and that was something Bellamy longed for. "Haven't seen ships like that except in pictures. Not since I've been alive."

"There's no feeling like it." Freedom and independence as symbolised by a ship had been why she'd decided to steal the Call when Zevran told her he'd been hired to kill Luis.

"I can fix that," she said. "We mightn't be able to sail away, but I can at least give you a personal tour." Followed by the personal tour.

"I'll take you up on that," Bellamy told her, nodding. "I've got a few things back home that I need to do so I couldn't sail away with you anyway but personal tour?"

That he could do. He could also smiled crookedly at her.

"Be the first personal tour of a ship I've ever had."

"Pity, I could use a man under me who takes direction well," Isabela drawled, though some part of her she hadn't even known was tense relaxed at hearing he had other commitments.

"What a coincidence, it'll be the first personal tour I've given...of a ship." Well, first one that she planned on ending in the captain's quarters, Merrill had gotten the other kind. "Just let me know when you want it."

"Well, you're just making me feel special left and right today," he said slowly, grin widening. "I think my heart might be skipping a few beats."

He patted his chest.

"And my schedule's pretty open these days. Being here's about the only time that's filled. Besides that, open."

"So long as the rest of you remembers how to keep a rhythm." You set yourself up for that one, Bellamy.

"The coincidences keep piling up," Isabela said in mock amazement. "The rest of my day's wide open, so it's really just a matter of when you can get off."

"I guess you'll soon see if the rest of me can keep up," he told her, grinning. See, he remembered the whole bed thing. He had a good memory when it was things that mattered.

"As for getting off today..." He glanced around the empty store save for the two of them. "Pretty sure I can cut out early. I don't really think there's gonna be a rush on guns."

Isabela grinned back. "I'm sure you're up for the challenge," she said. "Or you will be."

And because it would be irresponsible to stroke his ego too much in public... "So long as it's the only time you're early today."

That made Bellamy laugh because, while he'd expected it, he still liked hearing it. He shook his head.

"Don't you worry," he promised easily, "I'm only early when I wanna be. When all's said and done, I'm sure you'll be satisfied with my...arrival."

He kept handing her all these good lines, of course she was going to use them.

"Good, since I'm a woman who demands satisfaction," Isabela 'warned' him. "So you'll have to work long and hard."

Ordinarily, Bellamy would have told anyone else that he'd work at the pace he wanted to work. In this instance, the pace he wanted to work and her words were in agreement.

"Oh, I will," he crooned confidently. "And I'll keep at it for as long as it takes. If it takes all day, it takes all day."

Wasn't it nice when two like-minded people were in agreement? Though it probably helped that Isabela was likely to better reward good performance than York was.

"So cocksure. I can hardly wait to see you rise to the occasion."

"You won't have to wait long," he promised confidently. "And in the meantime, I'm sure you can keep yourself busy with other things. You seem like a capable woman, after all."

"Oh, I know just what to do when I need to keep my hands to myself," Isabela assured him.

"See what I mean?" He shrugged, continued to grin. "Capable woman. And soon enough, you won't have to keep anything to yourself."

"Except maybe the good rum." Cruel, Isabela, even if you were joking.

She pushed off the counter. "I'll be waiting doown at the docks, you'll be able to find the Call easily enough." There weren't exactly many sailing ships berthed there.

"I'll be there as soon as I can," he told her, nodding. "Sooner rather than later. Get your best tour guide outfit on."

Isabela winked at him as she headed for the door. "I think you mean my captain's outfit."

Spoiler, her captain's outfit was almost identical to this one. As was her tour guide outfit.

She didn't have a lot of outfits, and putting her new jacket on would look impressive but defeat the purpose.

"I look forward to seeing it," Bellamy called after her, smirking. "See you soon."
