Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Friday afternoon, The Park

The weather in the park was far more warm and pleasant than the forecast might have led you to believe, though apparently there'd been a sudden glitter downpour at some point. The traditional decorated tent had all been set up, complete with various tables, an expansive buffet, and the all important shadowy corners.

There was also a very glittery banner that read:

Here's where you can pick up your nametag and check out in with the security officer so you can find out how safe your precious bundles of joy are.

Not that they'll take your weapons, they gave up on that years ago.

Oh, look, an extremely handsome and charming elf had arrived and was admiring the scenery as he signed in. Also the park, that was very pretty too.

Mrs. Li looked around at all the glitter with a little moue of distaste that she was pretending to be a smile. Mr. Li wasn't even pretending that much, rolling his eyes and occasionally trying to brush the glitter off of his clothing.

"Is this really necessary?" he asked, loud enough to be overheard.

"I think it's kind of festive," Sarah said.

"Don't contradict your father, dear," Mrs. Li said immediately. "Now apologize."

They were both still looking around, so they missed Sarah's eyeroll. "Sorry, Dad," she said, shoving her hands in her pockets. "Didn't mean to contradict you."

In addition to the nutcake dropping witchling, two more people were signing in to prove Cara's point about plans getting derailed. Not that they expected to actually find her here, but it never hurt to try.

"Do you remember this place being quite as... sparkly?" Richard asked.

There's a spread of all kinds of picnic food and drink, as well as glittery, glittery (non-alcoholic) punch.

Kaylin, of course, was by the food and drink table. Why not? It was free and since she didn't actually have parents, she wasn't expecting anyone.

Gandalf bypassed the nametags completely, self assured that anyone who had need to know who he was, would know who he was.

And also because there looked to be a fine, little feast further into the even. That also factored into it.

Deciding it was the best place for people watching, Zevran settled in near the food, which not only seemed abundant, but nobody was checking for poison. This was a trusting place indeed.

Mal was dressed for slightly cooler weather, in her flannel, denim vest, and jeans, but the heat didn't bother her. She took some food to munch on and wandered around the park, keeping an eye out for anyone who looked cool (or failing that, April).

Ray found the food table and pretty soon had a full plate with him, he was pretty content to hover near it for the time being.

Dante would've come here looking a whole lot less confused and slighly pissed off if it hadn't been for that thoroughly weird shit that morning.

Still, he wasn't passing up an opportunity to go scrounging for free food. He had a plate full soon enough.

Ada wasn't expecting any guests. It was springtime at home, and that meant the carnival was rolling out from Arizona to begin the tour; no one could be spared to check on her in-person.

That didn't mean she wasn't going to show up and help herself to food and drink, especially the glitter punch. It was just too much fun to people-watch.

He was, however, stalking around like he owned the place, eyes narrowed at the people all wearing different colored clothing. How could anyone here tell where anyone belonged without color coding?

He'd also snagged a piece of chocolate cake.

Because free cake.

Isabela wasn't expecting any guests, but having put in the hard work of helping set up, she was relaxing with a cup of punch.

Of course, her cup had a little something extra added beyond glitter.

The thought made Jasper laugh as he made his way down to the park. He was coming just to see what this event pulled in rather than with the expectation of seeing anyone.

Melissa Hoover had offered but he'd turned her down flat. No way. If anyone were to come, it'd be Howie but he'd apparently had an incident with his hemophilia so he was out.

Just Jasper this weekend.

Like son, like mother, which is why Suzanne Bittle had made a beeline for the food tables and was inspecting everything they had to offer, while quietly passing judgement.

Anders didn't trust the punch, but he was happy to see the rest of the spread. He piled a plate with sandwiches and found a table to sit at while he ate them. He wasn't expecting anyone, but half of him was hoping Karl would find a way to show up again anyhow.

Did you really think Harry would have put a sticker on his suit? Really? Because that was in no way happening.

Instead, he took a position near the edge of the little gathering to keep an eye on any potential threats. And ignore Merlin's comments in his ear about how this was just a little strange.

Cassandra wasn't in the shadows, per se. That was not her environment of choice.

She was, however, somewhere midway between the shadows and the light: the shade. She was wearing her armor. And she was squinting.

Just in case more apostates showed up. You never knew.

There wasn't any chance in hell that Bellamy would have anyone showing up but the stupid hopeful part of him came down anyway.

He didn't expect it but he couldn't stop himself from looking for Octavia.

Didn't see her. That meant he was going to grab a drink and brood.

Where else was a demon clown from a Maine well supposed to hang out other than a shadowy corner, where he could wave creepily at people and then vanish suddenly as needed?
