For whatever reason, Vic was feeling antsy hanging out in the office today. So she threw all her paperwork into a back and had commandeered a corner of the coffee shop to finish it. The staff wasn't too happy about it but Vic really didn't give a crap.

Right now however she was mostly ignoring the stacks of paperwork in front of her and was texting a few people back home. Given the way time past at home she doubted anyone would respond for weeks but after seeing so many people visit the island she was feeling a bit homesick.

That would probably change after any conversation with Walt.

The one thing he hated about this town was how boring it could get when it wasn't being a complete disaster. He was used to being active almost all the time, running, hunting, climbing, pulling, and whatever else he needed to do to make sure he and his fellow delinquents survived long enough to stick to those people still back on the Ark.

He knew that he wouldn't stop in for coffee on most days but he needed something to do so here he was. When he walked in, he glanced over at the woman and the paperwork and snickered.

"Someone's behind on their work," he quipped as he went to the counter and ordered a water.

"Yeah, you will not believe the amount of bullshit paperwork this island creates," Vic sighed as she reached for her coffee and tossed the phone on the table. "You new in town?"

"Don't know if I'd really qualify as brand new anymore but new enough, yeah," he said, shrugging. "That mean I created some of that paperwork?"

"I don't know," Vic said picking up one report in particular. "Were you a gremlin living in a house and eating all the Lucky Charms?"

"Not recently," he said dryly, raising an eyebrow. "Really, that's something that gets called in here? Why is this place so ridiculous?"

"You know this is some kind of interdimensional nexus right?" Vic said as she leaned back in her chair. "Sometimes it leads to a nexus of stupidity."

"So, I've learned," Bellamy said, shrugging. "I didn't even know this place had cops. Thought the civilians did all the policing around here when they didn't like something."

Vic shrugged. "When the island gets invaded it's usually all hands on deck," she replied. "Me? I try to avoid that bullshit. I'll stick to the regular day to day crime stuff."

"So, what do you do when things get out of control?" he asked, "Hide?"

"I prefer to think of it as a strategic retreat," Vic joked. "That involves pizza and beer."

Bellamy smirked. "And that works for you? Your bosses don't get a little pissed that you're sitting around while shit's going down?"

"Been here over a year and no one has fired me yet," Vic said with a shrug. "And let's face it: How well do you think a normal cop is going to do against all this supernatural crap that keeps happening around here? I have a gun. There were literal demons here at one point. What good am I going to do there?"

"I have a gun too and you'd think I got here carrying a nuclear bomb on my back," Bellamy said, rolling his eyes. "People here don't like guns, I guess."
