The Perk- Sunday morning

Gwen and Mara were on a mission. A mission to get a terrifying-sounding drink. Hopefully they'd get there first, before the baristas heard too much of this drink order and lost their damn minds about it.

"I honestly don't know that I can say this order with a straight face," Gwen muttered, looking the list over.

"Oh, I can," Mara said. "No guarantee I'm pronouncing the words correctly, though."

"Macchiato is the hard one. Otherwise, you've got this," Gwen assured her.

[giveherahand]

"Hiiiiii," Mara said, heading up to the barista. "Can I get a quad grande, non-fat, extra hot caramel macchiato upside down? Oh, and a bran muffin."

The barista was trying very, very hard to make Mara explode with her brain.

"There are allergies involved," Gwen added, like that might somehow make the drink better?

Mara nodded. "I'm really allergic to, um, shellfish. And fat."

[stacyexperiment]

The barista was glowering, but rung up the order.

"She's so gonna spit in it," Gwen muttered.

"We don't have to drink this, right?" Mara checked, glancing at the register. "I think she doubled the price, too."

"I'm not drinking it," Gwen said quickly. "Tino probably has to."

[giveherahand]

"I'm feeling weirdly sorry for Tino right now," Mara said, fishing out the money and giving it to the barista for the drink that does not look like it's worth almost ten dollars.

"I feel sorry for whoever's got to deal with him after five of these," Gwen said, and checked this off the list.

[giveherahand]

"He's going to be doing laps all night," Mara agreed. "Okay, next on the list...what's in a Ben special?"

[stacyexperiment]

"It's some monster thing, I don't even know," she answered. "Should we find out next?"

[giveherahand]

"Sure," Mara said. "Swing by Ching Tai on the way and take chopsticks. It'll take three seconds."

"And we'll be right there to harass a squirrel." Oh Gwen was looking forward to that.

Mara grinned gleefully. "I'm really excited for that one. And what's an alot?"

"...Many selfies? No idea. I guess we'll figure that out," Gwen shrugged.

Mara picked up her drink and the bran muffin. "Next stop, then!"

Frank walked in and pointed at Mara and Gwen. "I'll have what they're having, minus the bran muffin and spit."

"Oh, no, if anything, we should have less spit because we were first," Gwen said.

"Than you should have asked for no spit," Frank pointed out.

"Technically I didn't ask for it so it shouldn't be in there anyway," Gwen said. "And trust me, this drink is specific."

"Which is exactly why I only made her listen to it once," Frank said, taking a sip of his liquor while he waited on his needlessly complicated coffee.

Gwen eyed the liquor. "Devil's Nest or your own personal artillery?"

"At the moment, it's just mine," Frank said. "I can neither confirm nor deny that I've visited multiple bars so far today."

"Aha, so you're playing the secrecy game," she said.

"You might think that," Frank pointed out.

"I'm gonna go with it," Gwen decided. "Suspicion will keep me on my game."
