Homecoming Carnival Post II | The Park | Friday, October 23

Since no murder carnival had decided to visit the island recently, the Student Council had agreed that holding the regular, traditional carnival would be a good way to start out Homecoming Weekend. If nothing else, it was probably the one event that didn't involve unspeakable amounts of glitter, and that had to count for something, right?

The skies were sunny, the air was only a little chilly, and the food and drinks looked good! One new addition to the carnival was the signs scattered around the edges of the park, marking the festivities as 100% clown-free or else. In case anyone had been concerned about such things.

The concessions were moddably stocked with all sorts of typical carnival fare, from kettle corn and sodas and cotton candy, to old-timey taffy and sticky candied apples.

Cosima got a hot dog with the works and practically inhaled it, then went for fried oreos to top it off. Health was not exactly her concern today.

The food was way different than what Ringo had half-expected. She knew that the carnival wasn't exactly a festival from back home, but it had a lot of that same feel to it. She'd even dug into the back of her closet and gotten out a yukata to wear.

But while there was no takoyaki or karaage, there were still plenty of fried things. Apparently that was universal. So Ringo was trying a little bit of everything. Well, maybe not everything. Some of the food on offer was kind of weird.

Naomi helped herself to a generous serving of food and decided to have a walk round the carnival, taking her time to have a look round.

This year, the tables all looked kind of woodsy, and were surprisingly glitter-free. It was a minor miracle.

Seriously, no glitter? Had something terrible happened to this town since Jaina had last been here?

She took a seat at one of the tables to see who was here, and she was half expecting glitter to rain down from the sky when she was least expecting it, not that she would admit that out loud.

Sitting at one of the table, Leto smiled at Hania's attempts at eating cotton candy. By now, her face was sticky, and she had tiny pieces of it stuck to her eyelashes. That didn't stop her, however.

Leto leaned back on his chair, contemplating what a nice day it was to be in Fandom, and how his daughter, despite soon being old enough to call a sandworm on her own, could still be completely absorbed by sweet and exotic food.

Sia was super busy as a princess in exile, who knew! She'd managed to get a weekend away this time, though, and was sitting at a table, trying not to feel too weird at being back.

Jasper had walked by the booths earlier in the day and thought maybe he'd check them out a little more later but for now, he was gonna sit down and take everything in.

Val was delighted by all the pretty colors, and wound up making grabby hands for... a variety of objects, many of which were not baby material.

Sigh.

It's a really rather lovely one, with unicorns and dragons and gryphons and pegasus and other such creatures, all chasing one another around and around and around into infinity.
