Dante had only shown up here to get a soda. He'd already put in his weekly visit to the cat yesterday, so he hadn't actually brought anything vaguely foodlike.

He had absolutely no idea how this had turned into making three trips into the Kwik Stop in fairly rapid succession.

Or why he was now standing outside of it, leaning against the wall and dangling a slice of some vaguely meatlike product over the cat's head.

"You're going to swell up like a fucking balloon, cat," he said. "Cat-blimp."
