The last time he'd opened up the shop, he'd had to guard it against tiny children who did not need to get their hands on firearms and any other weapons. That seemed to have worn off now so Bellamy propped the door open to let in some fresh air.

He'd picked up a cup of coffee on his way in and was sipping that behind the counter while he flipped idly through a magazine someone had left in the store at some point.

"I see you're not fighting small children today," Isabela said from the doorway.

Not that she was planning on admitting being said small child. Nope.

"Who said I was fighting small children any day?" Bellamy wondered, glancing up at her. "I don't do that unless it's warranted."

"Radio did," Isabela replied. "Something about breaking and entering."

"Are you checking up on me?" he asked, amused. "That's cute. That's very cute. I didn't know you cared so much."

"How else am I supposed to find out what my favourite weapons merchant is doing when I'm not around?" Isabela replied. "Though apparently that's get into fights with girls."

"You sure are fixated on that, aren't you?" Bellamy asked, smirking. "Any specific reason?"

"No," Isabela lied. "I'm just picturing some tiny blonde thing kicking you in the shins."

"The radio didn't say anything about me getting kicked in the shins," Bellamy pointed out. "I don't think radio said I even got hit. I listen to it sometimes."

"You're tall," Isabela pointed out. "I doubt a child could reach any higher. It's a reasonable assumption to make."

"Uh huh," Bellamy said, going along with it and chewing on his finger as he did. "She looked kinda like you, you know."

"Did she? What an amazing coincidence."

Not quite 'here are all my completely believable reasons for avoiding the Qunari compound', but not much better either.

"Well, whoever she was, she didn't get in here," Bellamy said, shrugging. "She tried but she wasn't good enough to get by me."

Bellamy had had a few advantages there. "Truly a noteworthy victory then."

"I take what I can get here," he quipped, shrugging. "And what did you do all last weekend?"

"Oh, nothing in particular."

Certainly not running around kicking tall men acting like arses in the shins.

"Sounds boring," Bellamy remarked with a shake of his head. "Never known you to revel in boredom."

"Well, I'm full of surprises." Like being boring, yes. Totally. "Sometimes a girl likes to take her amusements into her own hands."

"Too bad you didn't come and see me," he replied with a shrug. "I would have kept you entertained even if you were tiny. You were probably a horribly attention wanting little girl but amusing all the same."

"How, by being an arse to tiny, curious children?" Isabela, that whole claiming it wasn't you thing worked better if you didn't call him the exact same insult in the exact same accent. "And I'll have you know I was a highly independent child."

Bellamy raised an eyebrow at her. "A tiny independent child who tried to get into my store even when I said no?"

"Technically it's not your store," came Isabela's non-answer.

You have pretty eyes, Bellamy.

"When I'm the only here, it is," he told her. "I'm the boss which means I'm the one who's in charge. And you should listen to your elders, you know."

"Like to be in charge, do you?" Isabela asked. "If I see any of them around I might do that."

"Well, I am good at it," Bellamy said with a shrug. "Haven't heard any complaints yet."

That was a lie. Plenty of people complained about him back home. The biggest noisemaker was actually here on this island but Clarke didn't count.

Isabela raised an eyebrow. "Someone sounds a bit cocksure."
