Parker was supervising. Which, as employees of the Brew Pub in Portland and now Luke's could tell you, mostly meant watching them a little too closely for comfort, and commenting on their knife-work. Or occasionally throwing in a comment on how Eliot did it better.

"You're not our real boss," someone had the bad sense to say out loud.

"I'm your real bosses' girlfriend, that's even better."
