After a squirrel had managed to (drunkenly, let's be real) knock out the power to the building for a whole minute before back up generators came online, Tony was forced to improve the system.

Forced.

This ended up meaning building three separate power sources that weren't connected to the island's power grid for the shop, the lab, and the apartment. And drinking two pots of coffee. As was only healthy.

So he was a little twitchy as he worked today. Just a little.

After her talk with Jessica yesterday, Rey was heading in as soon as her glass was over.

"Excuse me," she said, "Are you Tony Stark!"

Tony looked up from his mess of wires and metal work to squint at her. "Yes. Do I know you? Should I know you?"

He was getting used to that.

"My name's Rey. Now you know me," she told him, only a little confused. "I was told I should talk to you about a job."

"Told by who?"

"Jessica. You can ask her."

Oh she hoped Tony and Jessica got along now.

"Oh." That worked for him. "You can start this weekend."

Rey blinked. "That's it?"

Tiny shrugged. "She's a good judge of character. Don't blow anything important up and keep the lawsuits to a minimum. We can call this a trial run if it makes you feel better."

It would make Pepper feel better.

"Okay," she said, still a little stunned. "Well, thank you. I won't... blow anything up."

"Or embroil the company in more lawsuits." A beat. "Unless it's for science."

"I would have no idea how to do that anyway," Rey admitted.

Jakku? Not very litigious.

When they really should be. Sue the crap out of everyone involved.

"Perfect! Are you from the past? Space? A universe that's unto magic?"

"Space, apparently. Another galaxy, from what I can figure," Rey said. "It's an adjustment."

Which at least she was handling remarkably well!

Steve had found the gym, which meant that (super-healthily) he'd spent the last five hours there.

He came back bearing coffee, since you couldn't meet any version of Tony Stark and not know about the coffee.

"For you," he said, holding out the larger one. "I got a--" he frowned and carefully recited, "'double shot white mocha with extra whip' at the suggestion of the coffee girl for me. It looks scary."

"If sugar still affects you, it might be," Tony replied seriously. And he accepted the coffee graciously and like it was a lifeline.

Seriously, his blood might be half caffeine at this point.

"Hope you like sweet things."

"I don't dislike them," Steve said with a philosophical shrug as he took a sip and sputtered. "That's not coffee!"

Sound more like a 90 year old, Steve.

"Nope," Tony replied cheerfully. He was struggling to not laugh at the elderly here. "Well, there might be a shot of espresso in there."

"Under all the whipped cream?" Steve said, frowning.

"Somewhere," Tony assured him. "Next time don't fall for the barista batting her eyes at you."

Steve blushed. "She called me adorable. I ordered it to get away."

"Awwww." That was also adorable.

And Tony was mean.

Steve glared. "I'll take your coffee back," he threatened.

"Mine," Tony said, cuddling the coffee close. "Getting between and engineer and their coffee ends in bloodshed, Cap."

"Wouldn't want that," Steve said dryly.

Tony nodded in agreement, savoring a sip of coffee that wasn't condensed from sitting in the pot for three hours after being forgotten.

"So, how are we settling in?"

With the extreme amount of exercise being done and all.
