Jessica may have still been in a pretty good mood from the weekend when she got into work today, but once she settled in, it was all business. She sent an email out to the Stark's staff.

Subject: Project Assistance

Team,

I've been working on some possible improvements to the Trooper Station recently and I'm ready for Phase 2, which could use some help. If you have any interest in working on cutting edge small town jail technology, let me know.

She then forwarded that email and some schematics to Tony's human assistant/focus behind the actual business/Jessica didn't know her actual title, Pepper, with an additional note:

I don't think this will cause any trademark lawsuits, but can somebody confirm it?

We're doing it either way, but I want the legal team to be ready just in case.

That being done, she could actually get back to doing real work instead of sending emails.

Her title might have been 'Tony Stark Wrangler' but those business cards were burned. Something about it being a terrible attempt at a joke.

"Is this because of that creepy guy last year?" Yes, Tony sauntered on up as soon as he read the email rather than respond to it professionally.

"Trace it back far enough and yeah, pretty much," Jessica said. "And then there was another guy with super speed the weekend of the reunion last fall. If I didn't have some backup with all the people in town, he could have gotten out right away."

Instead of being let out into SHIELD custody after a little bit.

"Basically, we don't usually need the jail cells, but when we do, we need them to actually hold people, you know?" L

Tony had been distracted by Tony. And Tony. It was a thing.

"Sure," Tony replied. "The fewer jail breaks, the better."

"I have the name of some magical contractors who can keep people from teleporting in or out of the cells, but the thing I need some help with is a power inhibitor to go into the cells," Jessica explained. "I have the prototype ready, but it's only working with human-ish genetics and is a huge energy suck. You don't happen to know anybody who specializes in high power, efficient energy sources, do you?"

She knew the answer to that one. But she wanted to set him up in case he wanted to brag.

That earned her a look. Because yes he did want to brag, but he could also play hard to get. "I can check. I've heard Roxxon's doing well these days."

God he hoped that joke translated over.

"The only way I'll work with any kind of Roxxon is if I'm tearing the entire company down brick by brick, so I'm hoping you have a better option than that," Jessica noted. The joke kind of translated, but it was like the peace sign in another country. In Jessica's country, it was pretty vulgar.

But at least her response had much less rage in it than it might have even a year ago!

"They're more into illegal genetic experimentation on teenagers than energy where I come from."

"...okay, we are keeping an even closer eye on them then." Roxxon, no. Stick with your usual levels of evil. Don't add to them. "I'll work on a few options for the power source. But fair warning on magic not being the best mix with technology."

"That's why I have it broken up into two distinct components," Jessica said. "Keep the teleportation barrier as insulation within the walls and bars, and keep the tech inside the cells. It's like steel and aluminum. They work great together as long as you keep them separated. If you don't, everything rusts."

"Just covering our bases," Tony replied dryly. "Let me know if you need help with the rest of it. I did work for SHIELD on a few of their higher risk prisons.'

"Will do. Hopefully they worked out better than the high security SHIELD prison we had under the Triskelion," Jessica said. "Norman Osborn and his Six broke out of that thing so many damn times. And they brought part of the building down with the EVERY time."

"Oh, FYI, I gave that Pepper person a heads up. Just in case this might cause any lawsuits. I want to make sure she's at least a little prepared."

Tony made a face at 'Norman Osborn', but left it at that. "It worked pretty well, but nothing that can't be improved on."

But he did brighten up at the mention of Pepper. "Oh good. She likes to stay ahead of the trainwrecks. Did you not have a Pepper where you're from?"

"Not that I ever met," Jessica said. "But my version of you had such a large support staff that was only partially integrated into SHIELD, it wouldn't be surprising if she was in there somewhere."

And there was a face again with integrating into SHIELD. He was fine with working with them, but not taking orders from them.

"What about Rhodey?" He'd be super sad if there wasn't a Rhodey there.

"James Rhodes?" Jessica checked. "Never met him, but I've seen some redacted parts of his file. Your childhood friend, eventually joined Fury's dark ops squad for as long as that lasted. The last I heard, he was working for you testing some stuff out."

"Well... that's. Good." HE DIDN'T LIKE YOUR WORLD ANY MORE THAN HE LIKED LOST PUPPY STEVE'S.

GOOD. BECAUSE HER WORLD WAS DEAD. COMPLETELY GONE.

"From what I've put together, people in my world tend to have it a bit rougher than their counterparts elsewhere. So really, if I don't know them, your friends probably lucked out," Jessica said. "At least it means they're not maniacal supervillains like Reed Richards."

WELL GOOD. IT SHOULD BE DEAD.

"Well, I have my doubts considering how efficient Pepper can be..."

"Efficiency isn't a sign of being a supervillain," Jessica said. "Unless she also cackles."

Tony hummed thoughtfully. "JARVIS, keep an eye out for cackling on the part of Ms. Potts."

"Of course, sir."

"You don't have JARVIS watching out for signs of me becoming a villain, do you?" Jessica checked.

"Ms. Drew has only cackled when breaking the laws of nature," JARVIS said because he was a terrible AI who had learned terrible things from being around Tony so long. Like humor.

Tony gave her a suitably impressed look for that.

"I'm not sure I'd call it a cackle, personally," Jessica said.

"More of a chuckle?"

"I think that's fair," Jessica said. "It's more gleeful than crazed."

"Less prone to building death rays for sure," Tony agreed.

"I did put together a heat ray a few weeks ago, but a person would have to be very determined to let it kill them. I'm talking about standing still in the path of the ray for a few minutes, and even then you should be able to get medical treatment before any organ failure starts," Jessica confessed.

"So, basically a souped up tanning booth."

"It popped a flood of popcorn and melted some snow," Jessica said. "In theory, I could weaponize it, but I don't have much use for weapons."

"In theory, I could weaponize an electric toothbrush." But he wouldn't. We hope. "But I get your point."

"Some people take teeth whitening very seriously," Jessica said.

"...why do I feel like we've just enabled some sort of tooth fairy villain?"

"Because that's Fandom for you," Jessica said. "If the first bad guy that jail cell is able to hold is the tooth fairy, I think we've clearly done something weird and wrong."

Fandom and Marvel. At least it wasn't the crazy old days of Marvel. Armless Tiger Man, we're looking at you.

"Or right, because they're being held."

We will never stop looking at you, Armless Tiger Man. You are amazing.

"Fair point," Jessica said. "Dammit, I'm going to have to keep an eye out for tooth fairies."

He was indeed a thing of wonder.

"Hopefully it won't just be a squirrel in a tutu."

"No, Karen's not a tooth fairy," Jessica said. "I spent enough time on the radio to know that."
