Valentine's Dance 2016, Town Hall, Friday Evening

It was the Valentine's Dance and while, unlike some previous years, pollen wasn't in the air (yet), glitter certainly was. Gallon and gallons of it.

Or rather, due to the presence s of certain people on the decorating team, galleons and galleons of it. Yes, majestic sailing ships (with very...memorable figureheads) of various sizes stood proudly around the hall, all of them filled to brim with glitter.

Best of all, thanks to your kind and considerate student council, all this year's glitter was the edible kind. You're welcome.

Completing the nautical theme, the entrance was made to look like the docks. Minus that fishy smell and with ~~less~~ no pickpockets!

Most of the backdrops were also nautical in nature (and a few were naughtical, thanks, Isabela) and you could borrow some magnificent hats from the photographer.

There was the usual Fandom spread, and bowls of punch (here was probably at least one that Frank hadn't gotten to yet).

And see, the edible glitter meant you didn't have to pick it off.

Where you can do a jig, shake your booty, or slow dance the night away.

For sad loner types, or not so sad, not so lonely, types *ahem*.

For those theoretically responsible types.

Glitter. Yes, she had been told there would be glitter, but Lucille hadn't expected those quantities. She hoped it wouldn't stick to her new dress. It had cost more than she could afford, really, but she felt quite beautiful wearing it. She was used to long-sleeved dresses, so this one was rather brave.

The decor was interesting. At least there were no rats.

Eventually Lucille decided to find a corner and watch others enjoy themselves. Dancing in this time wasn't, it turned out, to her taste, and even if it had been there was no one she cared much to dance with.

It took a while for Lucille to realize that the glitter was edible, so at first she tried picking it off, looking displeased. Eventually she gave up, and found out that the effort had been wasted.

Cassandra was not the sort to go out and waste money endlessly on clothes, so the dress she was wearing was no different than the conservative - if pretty - dark purple one she had worn to the previous dance.

She also still looked less than thrilled about the dance-ness of the dance. Or the--

"Maker," she said. "Do I want to know where they found this much glitter? ... No."

Dante wore tight jeans and a black Combichrist top, which is to say he dressed exactly the way he dressed day to day anyway.

He showed up by himself, immediately zoned in on the food, and wandered over thataway.

#priorities.

Dante grabbed a healthy cup of punch - hoping Frank had gotten to it already - and dumped a bunch of food items on his plate.

Then he bothered checking out his fellow students.

Again, #priorities.

"Is it just me, or does this appear to get worse each year?" Edward pondered at the room at large, as he brushed glitter off of his finest shirt and trousers.

Edward was still picking the glitter off his burger. Sorry, StuCo.

Atton was not going to drink tonight.

But it was a near thing.

"I hate chaperone duty," he muttered, watching the crowd.

That was indeed a metric fuckton of glitter at the dance. Enough that there was no way to escape it's terrible wrath.

But Eggsy wasn't too concerned. He'd somehow managed to find a blazer (http://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/wennpic/taron-egerton-kingsman-the-secret-service-photocall-04.jpg) of all things in the back of his closet that he knew for a fact that he'd never brought. So it would be sacrificed to the glitter gods for tonight.

And he'd look posh as fuck for his date. Win-win.

Thorin was wearing one of his nicer tunics. One of the few he owned in red tones as his one nod to the strange holiday of Men.

And then gave the glitter an annoyed look. Because that accursed stuff was impossible to get rid of.

Since she'd known the heating was actually working, Isabela had actually gotten herself something resembling a proper dress tonight (though she was still wearing hrr boots under it). It was longer than she usually cared to wear, but it showed off amazing amount of skin and was easy to move in.

Face was wearing his blue suit. Again. Because he may have been a little in love with it.

"Probably not," he said. "I kind of like it, like little stars."

Of course Face liked the glitter. Of course he did.

"As long as you are able to avoid taking off your shirt and rolling around in it," Cassandra said. Mildly.

This was her concern entirely because it would look ridiculous, and not at all because she kind of loved how Garik looked in that suit, too.

Noticing Cassandra, Lucille approached her, pleased to see a face in the crowd that she was, well, pleased to see.

"Good evening," she greeted. "I was warned about the glitter, but I didn't quite expect this.

Kathy had felt like dressing up tonight; after several weeks of dressing for cold and snow, it was nice to put on something dressy. She wore a red rose in her hair as a nod to the holiday and the diamond anklets Parker had given her over the summer provided a nice bit of sparkle when she walked.

Not that she needed additional sparkles after thirty seconds in the glitter mines, but by this point, she was used to that.

Someone in the office had realised just how few of these Cara had attended, so she was stuck here tonight.

At least there were very few flowers in evidence, she could deal with the glitter so long as that was the case.

"I'll restrain myself. Though I could always take my shirt off and roll around after the dance," he said. Completely innocently. Yes. Totally.
