Okay, take number two on this date. This time without any chemicals in the air to distract anyone.

Tony waited inside the restaurant for his date to arrive, eyeing at a few spots on the ceiling of what he was pretty sure was green paint from a paintball gun. How he knew that could be blamed entirely on Barton. Like so much in his life could.

Hopefully that wasn't a warning sign.

"I wouldn't want to do it."

Guidance counseling on this island did not count as a normal job by anyone's assessment.

"It's not that bad." Said the workaholic billionaire.

[electrocynic]

"Yeah, come back and say that again after you've tried to work some shitty office job in London."

She was thinking back to Jenny's less than stellar effort.

Tony had to really think about that. Because his employment record didn't really feature anything outside of the tech field. "I... guess? The worst part of my job tends to be the paperwork."

Which even got sorted out before it reached him.

You were getting a very working-class eye roll, Tony.

He would not enjoy it at all!

"What?"

[electrocynic]

"Nothing."

It was a low-level kind of unimpressed, by her standards. Nothing too major.

"Okay." He looked back at his menu like it could explain what went wrong there.

Oh, trust her, that could've easily gone way worse than that. Considering what a surly fucker she was in general, that wasn't half bad.

"Where the fuck is the waiter, anyway?" she grumbled, mostly under her breath.

The waiter was trying to make someone else take their order. Because he wasn't going to deal with that. He'd lived on this island way too long.

"Hiding?" Tony ventured, looking around the restaurant to find anyone susceptible to a smile and an ungodly tip to endear Tony to them.

Sarah's nose wrinkled up.

"Well. Wouldn't be the first time."

"I'm starting to think takeout would have been the better option." At least then they'd have gotten their food.

[electrocynic]

Not to mention their wine.

"Wouldn't have had to get dressed up for that, either."

"Catch up on my Netflix finally." In no way would be be able to do that. In no way.

[electrocynic]

"That's literally impossible."

Just in general.

"I could try. I haven't seen any of whatever the fucking meta is for House of Cards since the second season." Because people kept trying to kill him.

[electrocynic]

"I haven't seen one bloody episode and I'm doing just fine," Sarah rasped.

No one was trying to kill her. She just tended to watch bad reality TV and whatever dreadful holos Atton happened to bring by.

"What would you watch then?"

Oh, that was easy. "Preferably something with orange people in it."

"...like aliens?" Close enough.

[electrocynic]

Sarah made a face like 'eh, sort of'. "I was thinking bad spray tans."

"Jersey Shore?" Now it was Tony's turn to make a face.

[electrocynic]

"Sometimes." Not really by choice, though, but sometimes there'd been a marathon on. "But more like the desperate housewives of somewhere or other."

"See, that's one thing I'm glad to miss when I'm busy. Reality TV."
