Outside the Perk, Saturday afternoon

The weather'd started playing nice again this week, and Eliot was feeling that end-of-winter cabin fever, weekly adventure class or no, so after taking Val out for a run around the island, he stopped in at the Perk for a cup of fancy coffee and a pastry and parked himself at one of the outside tables, a bowl of water set down under the table for Val. He had a book with him, but he was doing more sitting than reading, just enjoying the breeze and watching people go by.

God he was glad not to live in the frozen -- or damp -- north anymore.
