"Right."

Sparkle was getting a whole lot of absolutely nothing done at work today. Sure, he'd come in. That was a big first step, right? But the presence of Alluka's stuffed toys behind the counter had reminded him that he was worried about her, and it wasn't long before he wound up just staring them down.

If it was a staring contest, they were definitely winning.

"Hey."

Yep. Here was his day, all figured out for him.

"I should have just stayed home with a chocolate bunny."

"Hopping down the bunny trail...."

No, Parker was not turned into Harvey, but she was wearing rabbit ears. And she was bearing a basket full of goodies. "Hey Sparkle! Happy Easter!"

...there might be a Faberge reproduction in that basket as well as a lot of chocolate, too.

Sparkle was going to have to live with losing the staring contest he was having with Mr. Bubbles, somehow. Looking up to see Parker there and taking note of what she was wearing was a welcome distraction, after all.

"Well, if it isn't Parker Cottontail," he said, grinning. He needed that grin, too. "Looks like your Easter is going well, huh?"

"Chocolate. Bunnies. Shiny things." Parker held up the basket and set it down on the counter, beaming. "What's not to love?... ohhh. Mr. Bubbles."

That was a sad-faced Parker, now. Who had to eat a Peep.

"Yeah," Sparkle replied, sighing and reaching glumly for one of those candy marshmallow egg things that was something like biting into a sticky sugar cube. "I found him and all of his friends in the park. Well. Most of his friends. I still don't know what's up with Alluka."

She was back on the island, safe and sound. But Sparkle had no way of knowing until he heard it on the radio or she reported back to work. He didn't want to jeopardize any potential rescue missions with the sudden ringing of a phone at the worst possible time or anything like that. He'd seen far too many movies to think that was a good idea.

"But Mr. Bubbles here is pretty good company, I guess."

"Hardison said he got intel for the rescue party, and he's the best at that ever, so..." So they had probably already found her, right? "I wanted to cheer you up a little with this stuff." One egg (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/82/aa/a2/82aaa2826b4bfd6549afd988cbd29ce6.jpg) in particular, yup. "I'll bring her chocolate too. When she's back." Not if, when, so there.

"That... actually makes me feel better," Sparkle admitted. "Inspector Hardison was on the case? She'll be fine."

He leaned forward a little to better inspect the contents of the basket.

"Oh em gee, what is that."

"Something I picked up," Parker said, very very bouncy. "Open it open it open it open it!"

--he'd find a really nice little gold clock inside, with all other kinds of shiny bits decorating it.

"Opening it," Sparkle laughed, picking the egg up and doing just that. "Opening opening open-- Ooooooooooooooo!"

"Isn't it cute?" Parker's love for all things shiny really got broken out during holiday seasons. "I love these kind of surprises. Like the first time I -- acquired one of these, and it still had the jeweled rose inside, that was awesome."

"That is so cool," Sparkle agreed, plucking the clock out and looking it over. "It's no wonder the Tzar liked these things so much. Never figured I'd get to see something like this up so close, though."

Whether it was real or not, really.

"You never forget your first Faberge," Parker agreed happily. "And if you want to see more, we could go after hours sometime and look at the ones in storage." You know, after she gives them back. "You hear anything from your friends in Toronto lately? Are they still doing okay?"

"Sounds like they're doing fine," Sparkle agreed, settling back against the counter and setting the clock down. "Raine calls sometimes, lets me know what's up. They've really got the place cleaned up, you know? It's... good for them, I mean. Having something they can be responsible for."

"That's good." Parker didn't get that sense of responsibility until she was over thirty, but then, she had other skills. "And how're you doing? In general, I mean." She smirked a little. "If you still want that internship..."

"Heh," Sparkle ducked his head and grinned a little. "You know, it's tempting. Life experience, all that?"

It was a big multiverse and he could use all the experience he could get.

"Next time something cool comes up, we'll see if we can't use some help," Parker promised, smirking back at him. "Or the next time the Island goes weird, we'll check in with you. Works?"

"Hey, that shouldn't take long," Sparkle replied. "I mean, the island hasn't been weird in a while, right? I mean, super weird. And there's a whole new batch of students to traumatize and everything."

It was probably just a matter of time.
